Should I keep my Xone 92?
Posted on: 08.01.2013 by Joya Heiberg
I'm new to the community , so I'd like to start off buying saying hello. Hello. I've had a Xone 92 for a little while now, and honestly, aside from the basic features of it, I don't know what I'm doing half the time. I only use the hpf filter and that works great for me. So I feel like the 92 is a bit of an overkill for me. I play Nu-Disco/New Wave/Tropical House so my focus is mostly on transitions and track selection. I

sorry, don't want to derail but can you plug in a 3,5 mm chord to record and not use the mic ?

EDIT: OP, where do you live ? I'd like a xone 92.

Stay away from the H2, i tried and tested it, distorted at even the slightest peak, its for voice recordings,

My mate has a recorder for DJ sets, cant remember the name off the top of my head,

also the 350 is a fucking horrible mixer, same as the CDJs, so shite.

What do you not actually like about it? the 4 band EQ?

Well after some research i don't believe it is possible with the iphone so apologies for that. I use the ipad and go from USB out on my mixer (Xone S2) to camera connection on ipad which detects an input when in FIRe. I assumed this would be the same on an iphone but it seems camera connection kits don't work with them.

Keep the 92 mate.

There's a reason the biggest names in techno use a 92.

My biggest regret was selling my xone 62. Will get another one or a 92 as soon as I can afford it again.

Blabla.. I prefer DJM to xone. I have owned xone 42 and played on 92 but Pioneer layout suits me better, although it can't beat xone's sound and built quality.

The only mixer that i believe compares to the 92 is the xone DB4

Well I have a Xone 92, pretty well with it... The thing is that I believe you still didn't look to all the options that xone 92 gives you. When I play at clubs I never use Pioneers or anything, only my good old xone 92 or use the xone 92 of the club if it has one... Nothing beats its sound quality, its filters, its connectivity with other external effects like digital delays for example. I say you see a little further for someone that actually has one to show you all the possibilities! You'd be amazed to what you can do...

So what about that DJM 350? It seems sufficient enough.

And in response to your original question I've always used A&H mixers. Wouldn't swap them for anything else and the 92 is a superb model. I'd keep it.

I use Reaper to record but any DAW should do a decent job.

Also get monitors. Rockits are fine. Other brands are good too. Anyting is going to be better than PC speakers. Nothing has improved my mixing and producing more than getting proper monitors. Did I say get monitors?

you mite kick you self as later on in time.. there no reason why you cant record out the 92!? my theory is you better off with a top class old mixer than a mid/low range new (unless you want midi/usb/dvs).
