San Francisco people where to start
San Francisco people where to start Posted on: 24.05.2012 by Alla Bluemke So I'm here. i've been here for about 2-3 weeks now. Finally settled down, got my stuff moved in, great place at the top of a hill, my dj booth and gear
is fully set up. What clubs should I try hitting up? Any recommendations? I'm into hearing just about anything other then dubstep. So house, prog, tech, whatever. I figure I should hit up the massive ones at some point like Ruby skye and supperclub. But other then that should I be looking into some other places, or other interesting music in different places? | |
Alla Bluemke 27.11.2013 | I've been a few times already! This is about a 2 year old thread but I have been able to play at a bunch of places no problem. I'll be sure to come to more events though. |
Kenton Almeyda 27.11.2013 | @guiltyblade, sorry for necro-posting this thread slightly, but... http://housepitalitysf.com/rsvp/ Housepitality SF is the most fun you can have with world class house and techno talent.. on a Wednesday evening in San Francisco! |
Alla Bluemke 03.07.2012 | ah thanks I've been looking for a link like that. That is huge! |
Celine Surico 03.07.2012 | Best bet to get DJ gigs is to get involved in various underground parties, as where those are I don't know :-). |
Ashlea Retzlaff 03.07.2012 | also, http://sfedm.com/ |
Alla Bluemke 03.07.2012 | I also heard good things about vessel, haven't yet partaken in it. I'm def going to the Justin Martin party. It should be damn good. |
Neva Lahr 03.07.2012 | Yeah man I'm spinning along with my roommate toevening
. . .may not be a whole lot of people toevening
because of the holiday but hey, I'm gonna get my drink on anyhow since I don't work tomorrow. Just come to the DJ booth in the back and we'll down a few! Never been to a dirty bird party. . .sounds like fun. What is it like? |
Carmelo Politowicz 03.07.2012 | I may have to hit up that Justin Martin party. I have been dying to find out when Vonstroke, Martin & Co. put on a dirtybird party in the park so this may be the next best thing. I'm telling you, Vessel is a great spot for good house. Robert Dietz is playing on 7/5 at BASE. If I didn't have a weekly Friday morning firm meeting at 8am I would be there way more often... |
Alla Bluemke 03.07.2012 | I have seen DNA lounge but haven't checked it out yet. Also I heard about mezzanine as well. I'll try to check out showdown. Are you playing today? I could drop in for a drink or two for happy hour. I live in Upper market near castro, little far but I can get anywhere fairly easily beside marina. For friday go to this! https://www.facebook.com/events/177669682364044/ Dirty bird party dude! its gonna be crazy. |
Freddie Henrichs 03.07.2012 | Didnt see this thread, Im heading for S.F. this thursday and my sister and I wanna go out friday evening , were staying on 4th and market(marriott).........would like to check one of these clubs out, but wanna hear house, tech, etc.......... |
Neva Lahr 03.07.2012 | If you are looking for something more low-key and divey, check out Showdown Urban DJ Saloon on 6th and Market. It's a sort of a hipster bar. I'm friends with the owner, Johnny, and I spin during happy hour from 6-10 on Tuesdays, mostly hip hop. They play all kinds of music there. Come on down for a free drink, dude! Also don't forget DNA Lounge, Cafe Du Nord, Mezzanine (drinks are outrageous but so are the girls. . .), Rickshaw Stop, Mighty (great sound, high-profile DJs such as Farina, Shortkut, J Rocc, Bonobo, Triple Threat. . .). A good loungey type place is John Collins. What part of SF do you live in? |
Alla Bluemke 04.07.2012 | Haha shit! I didn't see these responses! I have yet to really check out much at all other then the end up. This weekend I'm going to Monarch for Justin Martin release party.....Dirtyyyyy birddddddd!!!! Then Sat im going to some party on treasure island, then possibly Public works after. I need to be taught the wayyyyssss |
Dione Haimes 03.07.2012 | Holy thread revival |

Antonetta Wikel 24.05.2012 | Sorry for the multiple posts. Also check out Temple, it's a nice space with multiple rooms and varies with big name headliners and more local talent. My man Jaswho is the sound guy there. They also have production studios for recording and mixing. |
Antonetta Wikel 24.05.2012 | Also, there's a collective called Sunset that do an outdoor monthly and sometimes boat parties on the bay. They also do a campout coming up in the middle of July that's tons of fun. |
Antonetta Wikel 24.05.2012 | FYI Ruby Skye tends be a "clubby" club where the spots I mentioned earlier are smaller, more "underground" type spots. Another "Clubby" club spot is 1015 Folsom. Bigger place, three rooms, big name headliners. Are you looking for places to play or listen? |
Ashlea Retzlaff 24.05.2012 | check out guestlistnation for ruby skye. they have some pretty good events that go for free with GL, but $30-60 for bigger name DJs which aren't always worth it. also for anywhere with a GL in SF, be prepared to go early or be prepared to wait for an hour |
Alla Bluemke 24.05.2012 | ok those are totally on the list of places to check out now. Thanks for the info! |
Antonetta Wikel 24.05.2012 | First Friday of every month a collective called Brass Tax throws a freaking FUN party. Also, check out the Monarch, 222 Hyde & Public Works for some great evening s. |
Cammy Clegg 24.05.2012 | Check ur in box |
