Mounting studio monitors on wall?
Posted on: 18.01.2013 by Johnsie Kingrea
I've got a pair of Rokit 6 G2's and space is a premium in my new place. The only place I really room for them in my studio would be wall mounted shelves. My concern though is the weight, those things aren't light. Anyone here ever mount their monitors?

Do they call it Gaffa tape way over there? We (USA) just call it gaff tape.

Of course we have a bastardized mish mash of stolen language and phrases so take that as you will.

I've always built custom stands for whatever circumstances I was up against.
I don't like the idea of mounting nearfields either.

You'd be surprised how far $30 - $40 bucks can go .. with a little strategy.

well ya if you have something like the yamaha hs80/50m's with a rear port, i wouldnt even believe about putting them on a wall shelf. op said he had krks with a front port. like previously said, its far from ideal to put them on a shelf but do-able.

When I was looking to mount my monitors (Wharfedale Diamond 8.1 Active) I was doing some research on google and the main thing that came up is whether they are ported on the front or the back. Mine are ported on the front and they sounded fine on wall mounts. I had no other option than to wall mount due to space limitations though.

I used the following http://www.btechavmounts.com/product.../products/bt77 25kg load and clamps so fits most speaker sizes and shapes.

I use this wall mount http://produkte.k-m.de/en/Speakerlig...LL-MOUNT-black for my bookshelf speakers (Wharfedale Diamond 9.1) which is a better mount as you can attach the speakers by screws rather than clamps, however it was not compatible with my monitors.

Look into the isoacoustics monitor stands if you do end up putting them on a shelf. I can imagine them being mounted to a wall will sound horrible. you'd want all the isolation you could get from that wall and shelf.

Yeah we had a pretty similar one on New Years Eve too (Except I had to work outdoors the entire day for that one. This time I got to stay inside). Got up to about 43 degrees Celcius (Like 109 Farenheit). There's still a few bushfires burning, but not much near any major cities/towns. The temperate is back down to like 20degrees (68ish).

Cheers bro

USE DUCT TAPE... lol i had to say it

you could try hanging them off your ceiling. upside down deck stands and some screws ??

as for nearfields you want to make sure the monitors are 6-12" away from any wall and make sure the tweeter is level with your ears, when in your working position (sitting, standing??)

Wallmounting is a surefire way of downgrading your sound.

Best use stands and then move them back against the wall when you want to put away. I use a barstool with a phonebook as a damper.
