Technics SL1200/1210 Repair Service (UK)?
Posted on: 15.04.2012 by Giselle Aversano
So, after a busy week at work I have had a closer look at the SL1200 Mk2's I bought off ebay last week. I have noticed that one of the tone arms is bent and also the screws and bearings that rotate the tone arm seem to have a lot more travel or slack compared to the other TT. I also believe both require pitch recalibration. Plus I would like to have LED's fitted anyway. Does anyone know of any repair services in the UK, better still in the Midlands or in Birmingham?

Hows about Stoke on Trent? Junction 15 m6?

Cookies is a shop that I've always had any work done on my turntables at. In the past they have serviced them and only recently they have replaced the phono cables from the board on both decks for me.

From the Midlands by the looks of it! Where does he help people out fixing 1200's? Are we talking in person or a youtube channel?

you'll find the best advice for servicing from viperfrank on youtube.

The TT pimp will give advice on facebook if you send a message. He's a busy chap though!

I'd love to know where you can get bashed up 1200/1210's for nothing. I'd quite happily buy and have a go. Just a bit hesitant since these are my one and only pair.

Id definitely consider going down the parts and youtube tutorials root , tone arms come up on ebay quite often for pretty cheap.

It's in London but is my local music shop and has a cracking reputation.

Good luck finding a repair service. I recalibrated the pitch/swapped tonearms/replaced LEDs myself with YouTube tutorials and guides for the price of the parts, granted you know how to solder.
