"Faking" technics?

"Faking" technics?

so im looking at Xonetacular's custom paintings of the Technics... and this really cool idea hit me.

What if someone repainted the Audio Technica LP-120 to a different color, and then got the Technics stickers (like this one) off ebay to finish the job, making the "Technics clone" even more cloned. sure, the body looks a bit different with the buttons and all, but seriously... it would literally be the closest thing to a real Technics you could get.

i know some people might see this as a way to make fake Technics and sell them for more, but that's not what i'm getting at. i'm talking about purely personal use.

what are your thoughts on this type of "mod" or Customization?

Up to you then. But don't be surprised if people start bashing on your work and laugh at you. Because as I have said, no matter how you paint it and change the label, it will still be very obvious that your turntable(s) is trying hard to be a Technics.

The tonearm design, the platter, the buttons above and below the pitch slider, the power switch, etc. In an instant, people would know right away that it's not Technics no matter how you paint it, add some stickers or whatever.

Yeah, leave off the technics stickers or you are gonna take some heat from the purists. That's like buying a POS car and throwing some Mercedes logos on it.

Why would you want to put technics stickers on there anyway? It won't change how the turntable performs, which is the only important bit really.

Unless you're some mad hipster. Or having a laugh.

I wouldn't bother. It will be hard enough to sell stock AT TT's off as it is yet alone AT's that are made to look like Technics.
