S4 Build Quality
S4 Build Quality Posted on: 30.11.2010 by Kim Curnes 1. Handle of the channel fader has an offset.2. Cue mix knob is stuck when trying to turn it clock-wise. So, any ideas? Where to get genuine part to replace the knob? | |
Nedra Fresneda 02.12.2010 | design flaw i guess. DAMN YOU i'm getting one |

Caryn Liberato 04.01.2011 | I've been lucky, every thing looks good on mine. But it has to said there's a certain amount of compromise to the build quality. 1: it's made in china 2: plastic pots is NOT what you want to see on pro gear 3: un solid face plate along outer edge of pitch fade area Non of the above really bother me, I'm in love my S4. But keeping in mind those few points it's very hard defend against people who want to call it a plastic toy. Maybe it's case of you get what you pay for, I'm sure not the only one who believes the retail price is cheap when compared to what else is out there. I wanted to hold off from the first run, obviously I couldn't wait and ended up buying a second hand S4 through the buy and sell section on TechTools.

Merilyn Sellards 30.12.2010 | got lucky again, came home looked at my faders, its all good no offset , no headphone prob either yeeeaah! |
Merilyn Sellards 29.12.2010 | I will try and not look at mine.....aaarg who am I kidding! as long as there are no leaks whatever but quality should be top notch.... I have a less than half price reloop over a year and gave it some bashing and never a problem, nor defects/flaws found... well one button but that was my fault :P |
Eldora Longchamp 06.12.2010 | why did i ever open and read this thread =\ |
Kathrin Salabarria 05.12.2010 | My channel b has the offset problem as well |
Omar Nila 03.12.2010 | yeah i notced this to, atleast its on both faders and it doesn't seem to effect performance so im not fussed |
Peggy Gabrielson 03.12.2010 | but still...makes you realise the quality of the 1210s (mine now sold ) that piece of gear was flawless...engineering perfection |
Peggy Gabrielson 03.12.2010 | yeah...mine's got it too. that's the problem with being first adopters of a new product. |
Tiffanie Lenski 03.12.2010 | Mine has too but I don't really care about that. That's just cosmetic. I'm a lil buzzed spinning right now at a gig (don't why I'm on DJTT) but anyhow, there is no way that little flaw is going to have any effect on your set. You can't even see that sh!t while mixing and focusing on everything else. I feel you though. Just the fact that someone pointed it out is kinda bugging me. I'm trying to train my brain not to look at it when I look at my S4. As bad as it sounds I'm glad you guys have the same issue so I don't feel alone. LOL! If it was just mine I would be even more pissed off. |

Efren Awalt 02.12.2010 | So I have the same offset on my unit but I wonder if it's worth it returning it to NI when I have no real issues with it to begin with, I only found out about it it after reading this post. That and the fact I wonder if NI can 'fix' it as so many people have this issue? It's probably just an issue many, many others have aswell? |

Milda Poucher 01.12.2010 | Oh god damn it. I just looked at mine and it's also the same on the same channel. DAMN YOU FOR POINTING IT OUT! |
Carlee Pickard 01.12.2010 | Wow well thats shitty. I just noticed mine has it too. I guess i'll replace this S4 as well (this is my second one) in about a month or two once they're hopefully completely defect free :|. |

nayit ruiz jaramillo 30.11.2010 | Parts are not user replaceable at all. NI has a Service Contingency in place for such issues. Contact NI support mate. |
Leeanna Ayla 30.11.2010 | The faders aren't user replaceable so you'll have to contact NI. |
Kim Curnes 30.11.2010 | I've got my unit from DJTT, not from the store. I will try reach NI support. Thanks. |
Tracy Speich 30.11.2010 | considering this thing just dropped, there probably isnt many available parts for it yet. when in doubt check the NI website. the channel fader looks pretty bad and im sure its an annoyance. contact NI and see about getting the unit replaced under warranty if your local store it was purchased from cant do anything about it. thats if you got it from a local store of course.... sorry if this isnt helpful, just mere suggestions. best of luck |
