Vinyl Scratch Effect

Vinyl Scratch Effect

Hey guys, I've seen some videos of the S4 jog wheels being used like a vinyl turn table; how can I configure my S4 to do that? I've tried using the jog wheels in that way and I have no success or at least it doesn't sound anything like what they are doing in the videos.

Best thing to do is have the samples layed out like a normal battle record; where one sample plays, then ends and there is a silence for a little bit before the next sample comes up.

I made a basic demo a few weeks ago:

on deck A, you can see the track has different samples on it as they play out.

The demo I made was pretty basic and I'm still getting used to the platter on the S4. So, I've been practicing a bit more and I plan on putting on a video with some better quality scratches and other bits in there.

I learned to scratch on vinyl, but the feel of scratching is a little different on the S4, even when compared to scratching on pioneer cdj 1000s. the platter on the S4 requires a little more downforce on it. it seems like it makes sense, but i'm used to not being so "heavy handed" when I scratch.
thanks man you're awesome! kepep making videos, I subbed you just now.

To get it to sound like the pros you need to stand in front of the S4 and practice, practice, practice. Some people have reported success with chicken sacrifices and voodoo prayers, but I've got no first hand experience with that method.

scratching isn't just done using jog wheels/vinyl platters... the crossfader plays an integral part of the 'sound'

hit up youtube for some basic tutorials.

here is a youtube link with some classic scratch samples in it... if you click on it to watch on youtube and go to the description of the video and you can find a download link to the mp3.

A lot of people (including me) have a bunch of sounds on vinyl or mp3 with clips that are good to scratch to. Try scratching straight vocals. If your looking for some good clips hit me up. It's not in a special mode or anything.
