S4 questions

S4 questions
Posted on: 26.02.2011 by Donovan Mandy
Just got my S4, have a few questions, haven't found anything in the manual/settings/google...

1. is it possible to have the fx units and the master clock/recording on screen at once? I have the screen space to do so, it wasn't a problem in Traktor Pro
2. Is there an easy way to change the behaviour of the assigning fx units to decks? At the moment I have 4 fx units and 4 decks, pressing the buttons does the following:
A: FX1 turns FX1 on, FX2 does nothing
C: FX1 turns FX3 on, FX2 does nothing
B: FX1 does nothing, FX2 turns FX2 on
D: FX1 does nothing, FX2 turns FX4 on.
Ideally I'd like the buttons to do what they say (i.e. FX1 turn FX1 on for that deck, FX2 turn FX2 on for that deck and I'll worry about the others later). Is this an option somewhere?

Thanks!

Here you can downlad the tsi to make your S4 FX buttons control Fx 1&2 for each deck (like they did before you selected 4 Fx units) while still having 4 Fx units. You will need another controller to map control of FX 3&4 to though.

I am using mine like this.

Edit: just noticed popoff already posted the link at the bottom. oops.
Yeah, I tried that, but it annoyed me too much that the LEDs don't work properly. Haven't quite decided how to map my MPK mini to go with the s4 yet, I believe it'll take some more experimentation.

1.) No, as far as I know, it's not possible to have both FX units and Master Clock/Recording modules displayed at the same time. You can create a couple of custom layouts, one showing the FX units and another showing the other stuff, and then just quickly switch between them when needed (can be done directly from the S4).

2.) Haven't found anything in the manual, huh? Have you tried reading Section 6.3.3 titled "Using Four FX Units"?

Also, if you wish to eliminate the limitations of the default 4 FX units assignment, see http://traktorbible.com/en/kontrol_s..._fx_units.aspx
