First Small Gig With The S4 Last Night... Had 2 Issues.. :( Posted on: 26.03.2011 by Candy Vardy Hey guys well last evening
I had a chance to test the S4 out in public by playing for a small Bday Party onboard. Everything went fine, no drop outs etc, the S4 was awesome, well almost...I came across 2 issues, nothing that was noticed by the crowd but by me. The first issue was that I couldn't activate the EFX section. I tried everything but when I tried to use the EFX they wouldn't work. all I was using was the EQ knobs and the Filter. What did I miss, what was the problem? Is there a switch that I need to turn on first? The 2nd issue was that every time I loaded a new track and played it to cue through my headphones, it would play out through the channel even though the fader was down? To combat this I would have to load the track then first put the fader up and then back down, and then it wouldn't play through the channel. Is this some major issues or do I have something set up wrong in my preferences? I also noticed that the little light above the snap button was blinking even though my S4 and MBP was plugged. Do you know why this was happening? Other than that, my S4 rocked and everyone was asking about it, feels good man. Thanks in advance for your help DJTT! | |

Candy Vardy 26.03.2011 | Hey guys, thanks for all your help. I followed up on your advice and I believe everything is fine now. The blinking light has stopped, and the EFX are working so no need to reinstall. Anyway TP2 will be out in a few days so all should be good. Thanks again guys! |
Kesha Orde 26.03.2011 | Re the FX, have you got the button pressed to select which FX unit the channel is going to? I had a frustrating 2 minutes yesterday when this happened to me even though I always have Ch1 assigned to FX 1 and Ch2 to FX2 but they had somehow turned off. |
Nedra Fresneda 25.03.2011 | issue #1 were the send buttons active (1-2 buttons below the gain knob) both in hardware and software? try to reset to default the settings and see if it helps. #2 what loop said #3 manual says: The Alert indicator basically informs you that something might go wrong with your TRAK* TOR KONTROL S4 system: the indicator flashes if the Main Volume knob or the Head* phones Volume knob is too low in TRAKTOR PRO, if the CPU meter is too high, or if the power supply of your laptop is disconnected. but I guess you already checked these. |
Francina Decosse 25.03.2011 | your #2 is an easy one - in "Preferences -> Track Loading" there is an option "Reset all mixer controls when loading track...". Once unset, you will no longer have the issue. can't help on #1 as I need a reproducible scenario (step 1 -> 2 -> 3) |
Nick Ross 26.03.2011 | have you tried using it today? |
Gloria Lemmel 26.03.2011 | If you try out the EFX now do they work? if not, a reinstall is always your best bet. The snap button blinks if Traktor is taking up a lot of CPU power. check on the CPU monitor and if it goes past half the snap button blinks. With the FX again, maybe refreshing the S4 Mapping is a good call. Maybe someone will have more insight about this issue, but to what I can see, you should probably reinstall the software. OR you could just wait until TP2 comes out and start out fresh there. Your call, but I'd suggest reinstalling the S4 software again so that you 1) have a backup and 2) have a stable program that has been updated and had it's glitches fixed, just in case you have a surprise gig in the next couple of weeks. |
