Traktor S4/Vinyl Set up
Traktor S4/Vinyl Set up Posted on: 07.05.2011 by Joel Rauschenberger Alright guys so I bought the Traktor S4 and I have been having a good time with it but I want to add to the beast. I have recently acquired two vinyl turntables and I am wondering if it is possible to some how hook them up to my S4 using them as a vinyl emulation input, using the jog wheels for decks 3 & 4 and have the rest of the S4 running as normal. Is this possible? What extra hardware would I need and how would it be pieced together thanks! | |

Tiara Bastarache 07.05.2011 | Ah the sound card. You won't need a sound card because the S4 has one built in. But for future use I.E. gigs with just turntables and a mixer you'll need a external sound card. You should be able to find a audio 4 DJ for around 100$-150$. Native instruments has multiple sound cards out at the moment. The audio 6 and 10 are there newest, the audio 4 and 8 are the older models. A audio 4 is all you should need since chances are you'll never use more then 2 external sources to control the software. |
Joel Rauschenberger 07.05.2011 | 1 more thing. I don't know what it is called but I don't have the box that converts the signal. It would be called the M box for serato. When I look at the S4 Scratch update it doesn't appear to come with the converter |
Joel Rauschenberger 07.05.2011 | Very informative and easy to understand. Thank you for your advice. |
Tiara Bastarache 07.05.2011 | You won't need to map the controller at all unless you want to add something to it for customization reason, but you'll have to use MIDI and not the NHL mode that its usually in. The S4 already has a 4 deck layout for it and Traktor Scratch Pro 2 does support 4 decks. All you need to do is push the deck c and deck d buttons on the S4. Traktor Scratch Pro 2 is Traktor Pro 2 with time code support. Decks 1&2/A&B will be the turntables and 3&4/C&D will be your job wheels on the S4. |
Joel Rauschenberger 07.05.2011 | and then just map the controller to work stuff in Scratch. Does it come with support for 4 decks? Can I map the jog wheels to work on decks? Is the traktor software similar? |
Tiara Bastarache 07.05.2011 | Just upgrade to traktor scratch pro 2. Costs S4 users about 139$. |
