Successful Gig with the S4
Successful Gig with the S4 Posted on: 25.06.2011 by Yee Bedilion Hey all, had a good run with s4 last evening . I was having some volume issues and I was worrying that it was the S4 so I brought my mixer to put between the s4 and the house to see if it was the problem, but it turned out to be the power amp turn down to low, so that's great. I am working on my 4 deck mapping, but last evening it had some flaws that my testing didnt uncover til gig time but I quickly switched around to the default mapping and then had to reconstruct the layout but had no problems with popping and cracking a things. I figured the S4 would be able to give off more light, but that isn't the case. Snake lite please. Alright, I have a macbook which is in my sig and I am currently using 20.4ms latency. How come I get so much problems with the latency even though I have a mac? haha | |

Francina Decosse 04.07.2011 | what's 5.2 ? 96k output (3.8ms) + 128 samples (1.3ms) processing buffer? these 3.8 + 1.3ms are on a 13" mid-2009 MBP C2D @2.26 @ 4G DDR3. I'm usually running at 44.1 & 256 buffer which is in the 10-11. And honestly, I'm not really able to notice improvement below this mark - not even with timecode. But at these settings, TSP is running rock solid no matter how heavy the system is loaded. |
Len Lukawski 04.07.2011 | I have an i7 & 8GB on Win 7 and am running at 5.2ms. |
Harley Hendzel 04.07.2011 | i'm running a 2010 mbp w/ the 2.4 GHz core 2 duo and i've never had to run my latency that high. i'm sitting at the setting near the 10-11ms mark, with all 4 decks on, running all effects. |
Rey Holubar 04.07.2011 | Core 2 duo is a fairly old processor and if the upgrades don't help you, I'd venture to say, 20ms latency might be par for the course. In other words, you might need a newer MBP for better latencies. I have Windows 7 on an i3 and have a 10.8 ms latency. With an i7 MBP like Dustin has, you'd definitely have no issues. Just to show you the relation in processor power, looking at this site: http://www.cpubenchmark.net/ The best Core duo is ranked 583 with a CPU mark of 1150. My i3 is ranked 344 with a CPU mark of 1963. Dustins i7 is well in the 100s. The i7 2.2 Gig is ranked 29 with a CPU mark of 7215:eek:. scamo |
Yee Bedilion 27.06.2011 | I'll check the update out. Thanks! Almost got my mapping closer to a first version. Its going to be sick. haha. |
