Help! I can't get my S4 to crash!
Posted on: 08.07.2011 by Fady Soliman
I just got my S4 this week and can't keep my hands off it! Been mixing with it and playing with all the features that I forgot to put the software and controller through my testing trials.

First thing I do when updating software or adding new hardware to my DJ setup is try it's limits.

So last evening I went crazy with it and to my surprise I couldn't get it to crash or even a drop out in sound! My Asus laptop is over 3 years old running windows XP with a whole bunch of unneeded stuff turned off.

I brought the lantency as low as it will go and the only issue I had was the CPU meter was maxed out.

This is with using all samples, loops, FX, and scratching at the same time!

With my Ecler I can bring it down to 5ms min but any lower and the sound would cut out.

Wow I'm very surprised!

The only time I get a glitch in sound is when switching through the FX. Hope the updated traktor will fix this, haven't had time to upgrade yet.

YMMV. It all depends on what particular hardware your PC has.

Glad to hear it mate. There is a lot of bad press about the s4 and Windows but a little tweaking here and there sorts it out no problem. All I do is turn off wifi, disable the battery manager and shut off mcafee and my s4 is good to go!!

Yeah I was a bit worried about that. I've had more problems with my Ecler with sound dropping but tweaked my laptop to stabilize it. I do want to test it with windows 7 cuz I had big problems running my Ecler on that.
