Clipping

It seems like no matter how far down I turn the gain knobs on the 2 main tracks of the S4, I still get the meters going into the pink at times. Is this common? Any tips on how to avoid it?

I usually lower the two gain knobs, and then use the master gain to bring the volume back up. I still get little pink blips from time to time.

With the latest release of the 2.1.1 update, you can now leave your Master Output at 0db, and utilize the new "headroom" feature in Mixer Preferences. I believe that -6db is the default, which seems to sound great to me.

It's important to remember that the software volume and hardware volume are separate. I use the built in auto gain in Traktor to help even out tracks that may be of different volumes.

It can aslo be an issue that has been occuring where no matter what level the gain is at the controller show's clipping, if thats the case try reinstaling traktor.... you can also use a program such as mp3gain (free download) and this will ensure that all your tracks will not exceed a certain db. try it out ! it helped my set from sounding like a noobie to a pro!!!!

Turn down Traktor's master gain. It should be set between -5db and -10db.
