Traktor reset, fix or uninstall (sync issue)
Posted on: 10.09.2011 by Bunny Collie
after reciveing an x1 and trying to map it with my s4 i must have changed some settings withing the software.
now one one deck will sync with the other track and never the both tracks syncking with each other. i believe i migh have messed with tap setting or somthing either way i carnt fix it.

Ive tried for hours looking but carnt get the syncs to work anymore, ive tried unistalling the software but i believe its still managed to save the setting somewhere. Im getting really stressed out , its probably an easy fix for you guys but i dont have a clue.

is there a way to completly reset it, ive been through setup wizard but that does naff all.

thanks for the help much appreciated

That's the thing, since the bug, I am unable to set Deck A as the master in Auto mode. It won't let me set any Deck as master. It always defaults to the metronome/internal clock.

I have filed a ticket with NI. Will see what they have to say.

And this only happens with the S4 connected. Using my A4DJ and clicking with a mouse, it works as it should.

/Solved!!

I installed the beta 2.9.8 drivers and it's working again! 2.9.4 and 3.0 both did not.

Nope.

But after checking out the NI community s I believe it's a bug related to switching between 2 and 4 decks. If you have 4 decks and sync turned on deck C or D, and then switch to 2 decks, this situation occurs.

Because I was using it with 4 decks messing around, but changed to 2 deck mode while performing.

I'm going to mess around with it toevening and confirm/deny this.

The BPM should drop or increase to the tempo of Deck A. Just like you believe it should.

Now, here is the trick. If you want Deck A to follow Deck B. Do this.

With both decks running and in sync, press Shift + Sync on Deck B. Now the Master light should light up on Deck B. Turn off the Sync on Deck A and adjust the tempo of Deck B to be faster or slower. Now press Sync again on Deck A and watch how the tempo matches Deck B.

I hope you get it

Cheers scamo , i do understand this , i have since the first few comments you have given me ,but ! there is a way the original way and how it should have been when i first installed the software when you never had to press shift and sync.

If i wanted to sync one track to the other i would just press the sync and it would automaticaly syn to the other track . When i wanted to sync a track to the other all i would have to do is press sync, if i wanted the track that i just synced to speed up i would knock tempo off and speed it up . I would then be able to go onto the other track and speed it up the the track that i first synced but then sped up i would just press sync on that track for both to be in sync with eachother again.

thanks for your help by the way,

OK i have talked to the support team and the guy sent me this ....

Hello Alex , just use the internal clock as master, then all decks can stay in sync all the time. Just set it up as shown in attached screenshot. Best regardsStefan, Native Instruments Support Team

So i went onto the and clicked on master and tried it and both track did not syn with each other the track that i wanted to synce, synced with the tap number which also was not selected or lit .

here i have sent a screen shot to show you....Optimized-traktor.jpg

i still dont understand whats wrong, i just want each track to syn with each other once i press the syn button, i dont want a master track,

If one trak 1 is 70bpm and track 2 is 80 bpm and i press sync , i want the track 2 to go down to 70bpm. If i then turn sync off and put track 2 to to 60 from 70 bpm and press sync on track one i want it to go to 60 bpm.

Well I am unable to fix the problem under 2.1.1 but it works like it should in 2.0.3.

I guess I'll just use 2.0.3 until I can figure it out because it's fucking annoying!

I'm bumping because this happened to me over the weekend.

And it's pretty hard to explain if you haven't experienced it, but whatever the source it's a PITA.

What I am used to happening is that as soon as I press play on a deck, it automatically becomes the master. And as I mix into the next track, once I stop the first track the second track becomes the master.

Something changed and now the metronome in Traktor always wants to be the master.
I didn't change any settings. Altho I tried adjusting and messing with stuff hoping it would correct it.

I'm going to mess around with it more and if I can figure it out I will post the solution.

And no Tempo Sync is not the answer.

change your settings so that it is set to TEMPO SYNC

You might of thought it was working that way, but probably you just happened to have the right deck as the master, when you changed the tempo. Only the master can lead (and change tempo). I am also new to Traktor (about 6 months) and I would actually say its been that way from the start or for quite a long time, because it's the only way it can work. One deck or track or the clock has to be the tempo leader, the other decks are then then followers.

Um, something has to be the master. You've got three choices.

1. The track running is master in auto mode
2 With two tracks running in auto mode you press shift + sync for the other track to take over as master
3. or the clock is master. (which might have been your previous setting)

There is no other way for sync to work. It is also better there is a master, because say you have two tracks, one is 129 BPM and the other is 124. If you "dropped in" the 124 and it took over "the beat", then all of the sudden your BPM would drop from 129 to 124. Sync means "follow" and for the beat to match up in speed, it needs something that leads, which is the master.

i just want it like it was out of the box and all the setting to be the same

why ................
Bunny Collie

is there any way to change this.

i dont want a master track altogether, i just want to be able to sync one track to the other and vice a versa when i click the sync button.

i dont want to have a set beat that my tracks can go up to either....

ive been at this all day.....im ready throw my laptop out the window, ive reinstalled everything but the sync settings arnt original to the original setings it all works fine but i dont want a master track, i want to be able to sync that track to anything else i decide to drop in

cheers

I believe this might be a misunderstanding of how the sync function and the "master" work together so I'll try and explain as I understand it.

What ever track is running first, then that deck will be the master in "Auto" mode. If you have two tracks running at the same time and say deck A is master, but you want deck B to be the master, the only way to change the master over to deck B is to press "Shift+Sync" under Deck B. A deck won't take over as master on its own, unless you press "Shift+Sync" or actually stop the track in the other deck.

Hope that makes sense and helps.

when i keep going into controller manager its just saying generic keyboured or s4 deafault , the s4 kontoller is working but it the generic keyboured setting is selected even thought i keep changing it to s4 ?

cheers, that still dident make it work , but i noticed when i turned on the key lock function it started to work ? I dont know if its working properly i carnt remmeber the sync of each track exactaly folowing each other when i changed the tempo of the master track.

Im sure i had to double tap the other track to sync it to the master track if i ever changed the tempo ?

Should key lock be on ?

tried it with keylock again now its not working

The first track i play always says master track above it , i dont want a master track im sure because its the master track is the reason i cannot syn the master track to the other track ?

ok mate thanks for replying, I bought the x1 to go with my s4 so i could use it with mapping to apply the extra 8 cue points and have the 3 and 4 fx panel applied to the x1.

When i applied the mapping i noticed that my tracks whernt syncing together, i dont know if this was the mapping or something i had accedentaly changed changeing some options.

After noticeing this i removed the mapping and chose to use the original tsi settings but syncing is still not working.
I can remmember playing with the tap , master and sync settings in the top left corner by accident in which the buttons is aside the effects panel.

I have noticed you can set a beat value in the tap settings and now when i try and sync one track it automaticaly applies itself to that beat value.

Lets say my left track is 128 bpm and the right is 132 bpm it will sync with the right. But not the other way around , if i want to sync the right track to the left it will set itself to the beats in the tap setting or whatever it is.

I just want it to the original settings and its not doing it?

Thanks for your help guys and gals, much appreciated.

Hi,

It is sort of hard to understand what the problem is. Can you explain this a bit better please?

now one one deck will sync with the other track and never the both tracks syncking with each other.
And what did you do here exactly?

after reciveing an x1 and trying to map it with my s4
What did you do to try and map it to your S4? As far as I know, the X1 should be plug and play.

When you disconnect the X1, does the problem still exist? Have you reverted to the default TSIs, if you changed the mappings?
