Kaossilator with kontrol s4

Kaossilator with kontrol s4
Posted on: 22.04.2011 by Jaleesa Nimrod
hey guys so i have been looking to buy a kaossilator. I had a couple questions first though:

Do you guys have any synthesizers that you are currently using with the kontrol s4. And would you recommend a kaossilator or a kaossilator pro.

Another thing i was concerned about was how to route the kaossilator into traktor and have it play with my kontrol s4. Is it considered an "live input"

Sorry for the noob questions guys any help would be appreciated

That's a brilliant idea! I'm gonna use my kaossilator+mini-kp Combo in my vms4 input again!!!! The only reason I didn't using it much more was the lack of syncing between those two toys and the other traktor input... Recording it while it's cued is a good idea. Does a new loop in sample deck is analysed and beatgrided by traktor?

This basically extends the possibility of the S4, I believe its just a matter of syncing the external devices.

Note; We just got the thing so we're not too used to it, In unison with the s4. Just kinda messing around with some loops made from the synth using the loop recorder.

Edit: Just demonstrating that it is possible. Kind of took a little while to get the wiring correct with the output though.

This is possible. Kinda a conscience because I am interested in getting one soon. Go with the Kaossilator Pro for sure! Me and my friend are In production mode right now using a microkorg xl, and for live shows it's really sick!

Pretty much what you're gonna do is run some of these (http://www.google.com/products/catal...d=0CC4Q8gIwAA#) Rca to 1/4'' from the output of the Synth into channel D input. Then just switch deck D to live input in preferences.

hope this helps!

go for the Kaossilator Pro 100,000%!!!! because it has 4 sample/loop banks, and the most important thing: MIDI!!! so you can sync it to the MIDI clock signal from the S4 or get really creative and use a USB-MIDI interface to use the Kaossilator as a MIDI controller for traktor. I'm actually very surprised to NOT see anyone having done this on this community (or maybe I haven't looked hard enough) I'll be working on some mappings for the K-Pro to be use alongside the S4 and will post some when I believe they are useable. The K-Pro touch pad adds a whole new intuitive input for traktor and when using the K-Pro's editor software to customize the way the pad works the possibilities are endless. have a look at Ean's video where he uses the nano-pad X-Y pad. but the K-Pro is TONS more powerful! watch this space

Go with the Kaossilator Pro, that thing is a freakin beast. I use it with my VCI-300 and it opens up a ton o possibilities. It also has about 20 of the audio effects on the KP3 so it makes a mean effects controller as well. Spend the extra $$ and go with the pro, you won't regret it.
