Jogwheels and Traktor.
Posted on: 24.11.2011 by dan samo
Hi all,

I have a confusing problem with my Traktor and S4 jogwheels. Basically, when I use the outside of the wheel to move my beatgrids into place and manually beatmatch, I hear the pitch of the song change according to whether I'm (temporarily) slowing or speeding up the track. The problem is that I swear a day ago this did not happen! It used to be that whenever I used the outer-rim of the jogwheels to cycle through a track that the sound would NOT be changed at all. Now I hear a very irritating bend in the pitch, and I can't see anywhere in the interface or options to change this.

FYI all I have changed with the transport/jog wheels section in the last week is to set the transport sensitivity to 100% so that I can slow down a track enough to finish a set, i.e. total slowdown. How would this mess with the transport pitch, though?

Cheers!

Think most of us get into caveman mode while mixing, just floating along haha. Glad you got it sorted.

Haha! When I'm mixing I'm in a trance-like state... focussed on the bare essentials, as if I was just using 2 vinyl and a mixer. All the bonus S4 features are distracting enough already... that one tiny 'Keylock' light being turned off just doesn't jump out at all!

So simple, and yet so obvious... I was recalibrating my jogwheels and reinstalling Traktor and everything, believeing something had gone wrong in the MIDI control programming! Maybe I had hit Shift+Play on accident. How embarrassing!
