Kontrol s4 worth the money?

Kontrol s4 worth the money?

Hey guys

kinda a newb but heres my question... I'm contemplating getting a controller and have had the opportunity to play around on a few, including my old roommate's s4, which i loved so much ive considered getting one myself!

problem is that its pretty much the ceiling of my price range... $800 is a lot of dough for me to fork out so pretty much im wondering if it is worth it or better off with a s2 or a different controller for the money?

been spinning for approx 2 years, have used traktor for the last 8 months, some experience with controllers (s4, twitch, xone 4d, mixtrack pro, x1, novation launch pad)

*EDIT: now REALLY considering the s2 since the s4 is rather expensive and complicated... however is the dedicated filter nobs missing a real big loss? also whats the deal with the sample decks for channels 3 + 4? still trying to wrap my head around how to use that

cheers in advance

If you already have Traktor 2 you can factor in selling that into the cost of whichever on you want. That also means you can buy a used one that doesn't come with software.

To be honest get the S4!!! you can get a used one for a little over the price of a new S2 and there's is so much use!!!!!

The s2 has sample deck control straight out the box. The 2 buttons under the sample deck volume switch it to sample mode. The filter knob is there, it doubles up as the gain nob when you press shift. You can map it to another nob tho as I hate the clicky nobs.

If you use 4 track decks its pretty easy to map it to control all four, it takes a while but its not to difficult.

Damm Il do it for you for a fiver

If you want sample deck control, you can map the S2 in midi mode to do it, or get another controller to map it to. Already some mappings for the X1 to do it.
