Selling Serato SL3 for Traktor Kontrol S2 or S4? Posted on: 08.12.2011 by Agueda Trabulsi Hey DJTT! I love this website, and the community
. I just registered, and I just had a really quick question!Right now, I own Serato SL3, two turntables, and a mixer. However, I really want to switch to Traktor, and either pick up the S4 or the S2. I'm in a bit of a predicament. I really don't have the money right now to go out and buy either the S2 or the S4. So I'm believeing of just selling my SL3, because if I just switch to Traktor, and pick up the traktor Scratch pro 2 for the 150$. My question is which should I buy, the S2 or the S4? Meaning, what are the major differences between the two? Thanks again! | |

Tashia Mcdunn 08.12.2011 | you could go with two setups! get a used Audio 4 soundcard for DVS with your existing mixer and TT's. And you could pick up a S2 for the portable controller and the Traktor Pro software (which you can upgrade to Scratch for your DVS setup) That way you can rock either way and with the soundcard hooked up to your S2 you could even use it as your mixer. |

Agueda Trabulsi 08.12.2011 | Sadly I wasn't really able to find threads for selling the S4. I found one which was 600 euros though. I still just feel that's a little high for buying used, shouldn't it be like 50-70% of retail? |
Agueda Trabulsi 08.12.2011 | Good idea. Alright, thanks again! |
Halley Wurzer 08.12.2011 | Look at what they have been going for in the buy/sell community here. If it were me, I'd check that all the knobs and faders feel good and test everything out if possible. |
Agueda Trabulsi 08.12.2011 | Oh! Yeah ok. What I'm doing right now is just looking for a used one in my area. How much should I pay for a used one in good condition? Also what should I look out for when buying used? |

Halley Wurzer 08.12.2011 | For Traktor Scratch to work, you need either an S4, Audio 2, 4, 6, 8, or 10. It's really all about what you're looking for. I have an S4, the size doesn't bother me (I make room for it in booths hahaha), and I wouldn't want to lose the features that it has over the S2. For many people, the S2 is a better option. |
Agueda Trabulsi 08.12.2011 | What about using Traktor Scratch Pro 2? Ahh, because of the lack of inputs I guess.. The extra 500$ though.. |
Halley Wurzer 08.12.2011 | The S4 simply for the fact that the S2 can not be used as an audio interface for timecode with Traktor. I could go on with other reasons but that should be enough. |
