S4 MIDI Jog Wheel "ticks=" hack - Sweet!
Posted on: 21.12.2011 by Reid Vallet
Hey all, don't know if this has been discussed before, but this made my evening , so I hope you enjoy it!

I'm working on converting the S4 and Traktor to MIDI (what a pain), and I was struggling to get my jog wheels to perform properly at low speeds. There's a "Ticks" option in the controller editor which sets how far a wheel has to turn per MIDI out, but the stupid input box won't take a number below 20 :/

Classic Native Instruments, I know, but this time I was irritated enough that I opened my .ncc file in textpad and searched for the setting.

Turns out, you can easily change the value from 20 down to 1, and it dramatically improves the resolution of the wheels..!

I havent tested to see if the signal winds up overflowing my MIDI, so proceed with caution... I also haven't checked if the setting survives re-saving, but here's how to do it if you'd like to try:

-open your ncc file in textpad (or text editor of choice), search for:
<wheel id="JogTurn_AC" ticks="

-change the value after ticks=" to 1.

-You're done.

Sweet.

So a fix for the new s2 mapping that a member was just complaining about haha....so funny how issues are resolved quickly in cross thread stuff.

If you havent changed the ticks value for any of the wheels, it's actually easier to do if you search for:
ticks="20"

and replace with:
ticks="1"

... There's 8 total.
