Damaged loop length rotary. Anyway it can be repaired without voiding the warranty? Posted on: 28.12.2011 by Roselee Jasnoch I've managed to bend one of the rotary encoders on my s4 and was wondering if there is anyway of repairing it without taking my s4 apart and voiding the warranty? Its been bent so far over it no longer clicks when you press down and haven't had the time to check whether it works in the software or not.The reason I ask is because my mums boyfriend is an electrician and says he could fix it but if not is there somewhere I can send it off to to get it repaired? | |

Leeanna Ayla 28.12.2011 | NI is the only authorized repair facility. |
Roselee Jasnoch 28.12.2011 | Well I guess it'll just be a case of waiting for NI to get back to me (which is going to take forever as its just after christmas). I reckon he'll be able to fix it though, he used to work on satellites etc. It's his fault its broken anyway as he decided to tidy all my stuff I'd dumped in the attic when I came back from uni. Decided to put my dumbbells on top of the s4... Not impressed. |
Verlene Geevarghese 28.12.2011 | Hmmm.... seems to be tough to find an 'authorized repair center'. Ask NI and give it a couple of days. If you are close to being out of warranty, and you have confirmation that NI won't cover your damage under the warranty policy anyway, then maybe it's worth it to let him have a crack at it. I would have him sign a "you break it you buy me a new one" guarantee though |
Roselee Jasnoch 28.12.2011 | Ah ok. I've had a look through the NI website but couldn't find an authorised repair shop. Am I looking in the wrong place. I've sent them an email but last time I sent them an email it took about two weeks to get a response so was hoping someone on here could help! |
Verlene Geevarghese 28.12.2011 | You should take it to an authorized repair shop. I'm not sure if the warranty will cover negligence, but at least it will preserve the warranty to take it to someone that NI gives their blessing. |
