S2 setup
S2 setup Posted on: 09.01.2012 by Wava Zachery HeyJust got my S2 and having some issues getting it up and running. I already had traktor pro installed so i installed the drivers for the S2 and loaded djtt s2 map twice. Nothing works at all? I have the usb symbol lit up but nothing responds whatsoever? I tried uninstalling traktor and the drivers and starting from scratch...no go!? I tried different USB cables and still nothing,so i moved from my laptop to my PC and the same sh!t!!! Really frustrated here as it should be plug n play yet not even the default map will function for me? Im using windows 7 Anyone else have an issue like this? I just want to play some damn music | |

Alix Schambers 11.01.2012 | sorry to hear bout that dude. I wonder if its the OS cuz I installed TP2 on my Macbook Pro and things were good. goodluck man. |
Wava Zachery 11.01.2012 | Tried that and more and im sad to say this is related to the hardware sound card drivers. On the N.I. website there is a thread 32 pages long of people who get dropouts galore, pops clipping etc and to solve it are now using an S4 with an external sound card ...yea WTF. I have run latency mon game booster and disabled a ton of services and processes on my system to try and prevent the dropouts or freezes. Nothing seems to fix this issue i either get no sound output or heavy dropouts/freezing. Prior to this i used a BCD 3000 and had no issue, setup time for the BCD3000 was mapping no hardware issues at all, so youd believe by upgrading to a more robust "professional" unit that there would be no problems "plug n play" if you will but win7/XP seem to have the same problem for me. After reading the thread at N.I. i am speechless! the S2/S4 are pricey and it seems alot of people have had to tweak their system to prevent any issues or go with a external sound card which to me defeats the purpose of buying a unit with a soundcard built in. Each laptop is well within the specs to run traktor. So at this point i feel like i should have saved my money and waited for the vci-400. |
Lashay Walchak 10.01.2012 | why are you running the master back into the computer with a rca > 3.5mm? have you tried regular RCA to a home stereo? have you messed with the booth/main switch? |
Wava Zachery 10.01.2012 | Yes i have installed the latest drivers for S2 and the updated version of traktor. Service center and contoller editor are also installed/updated. I tried this on my laptop and my PC both systems will let me cue tracks so headphone monitor out works. levels jump so it it getting signal but no sound from master output? I'm starting to believe that this could be a hardware problem with the S2 Installed all latest drivers appz directly from N.I. site I RTFM and made sure i am plugging into a USB2.0 I troubleshoot computers/hardware daily and this has me stumped. My settings |
Lashay Walchak 10.01.2012 | The latest controller editor? Also have you installed the separate S2 driver. Both are avail. on NI's site |
Wava Zachery 10.01.2012 | Controller editor is installed and makes no difference. I have installed traktor 3 times from scratch cleaning my system each time of anything that may conflict. |
Lashay Walchak 09.01.2012 | It was cuz you didn't have the Controller Editor installed I'd be willing to bet. That will cause problems. |
Wava Zachery 09.01.2012 | Hmm seems the problem i had was the version of traktor i was using. I tried installing the version that came with my S2 and it seems to work now. The version i already own was 2.1.1 and the version that came with the S2 is 2.1.0 SO my mapping works now but i can't get sound from the master output. Im using and RCA-->3.5mm headphone jack from S2 to the back of my pc soundcard. The rectangle next to the USB symbol occasionally blinks while i play a track? I can hear the monitor output but no master audio??? Someone on the community said they removed power and plugged it back in and it fixed itself so i remove my power cable and i can hear sound on my pc speakers? Power plug back in and i get silence. Ugh never had this much trouble with traktor before it should be plug n play but add windows to the mix and instant troubleshooting YAY! |
Lucile Sanita 09.01.2012 | Same here. I had first tried to use it with windows 7 x64. reinstalled every driver but nothing seemed to work. A fresh vista x86 on a different partition did the trick. Still no clue why it wouldn't work on windows 7. |
