S4 browsing

S4 browsing
Posted on: 02.12.2010 by Raul Bartholomay
Hi guys. New to the community s. Looks like an awesome place for knowledge so ill dig right in. Just got my new S4. Its a dreamy piece of kit and love every bit of it.

My only gripe with it is the browsing. I am used to when you hold shift in to browse your folders and then just without shift to browse in whatever folder you are in.

Now when I press shift I browse some shoddy folder of "favourites" above the track list. I am at a loss for what to do. Is there something I am missing or is there a way of mapping it to work like I want it to.

Any help will be greatly appreciated.

A thing I've always found useful and what I rely upon regularly is the nice section called "index" within the manual where I could, oh luck, find the following:

- Browse button (48,61,131,133,138)
- Browse encoder (25,131) + prelistening to a track (30) + quick loading(129)
- Browse mode (48,131)
- Browser (29)
- Browsing from your S4 (128) + quick references (202)

I must admit my initial reaction was a bit, mmh, was totally, idiotic and I am picky. But please just don't say "Possibly missed it" because that's a hypocritical euphemism.

edit: had a not so good day too, so I sent you a pm.

The default mapping for browsing the folders in the left pane is first enter Browse mode, then use either decks' Move/Active knob (the knob to the left of the Loop In button), this will scroll up/down your folders/playlists in the left pane. Press the knob to collapse/expand the folders. Use either jog wheel to scroll though the songs in the folder/playlist, or use the Browse knob as well.
