S2 First Impressions
S2 First Impressions Posted on: 12.02.2012 by Arlinda Finazzo Just picked up my new S2 (bought via DJTT) from the post office on Friday morning and had the last two days to play with it... probably put in about 2-3 hours each day. There's a two main items that I've noticed compared to my old setup (Vestax TR-1 + M-Audio Fast Track Pro).1) Even after adjusting the 'latency' to lowest possible (under 10ms), the play button (or cue buttons to jump to cues when playing) don't seem as quick to respond as my old controller. Maybe the rubber vs hard plastic buttons? Or is this a common complaint? 2) My CPU Load indicator is reacting (appears to jump between 20-50% load)... where as with my old setup it never even moved from the lowest (0-10% load) indication. Using a MacBook Air 1.7GHz i5 / 4 GB RAM / 256 GB SSD setup. Is the sound card in the S2 more power hungry? Overall though, I really am loving the S2. They layout is just perfect. And I really didn't believe I would, but I was really missing having a jog wheel on my old controller... lot nicer to make fine adjustments vs the pitch bend buttons. Really looking forward to getting in to playing further with the sample decks in the near future. | |
