S2 Controller Help!
S2 Controller Help! Posted on: 15.02.2012 by Lashell Kieckhefer Hi there!I just got my Traktor S2 Controller! Installed everything correctly and I'm using the mapping from Ean. Now, I've got one question... When I play music from my macbook using Traktor Pro I can hear the music coming through my headphones, which are plugged into my S2. Is there a way to hear the music through my laptops speakers so I can pre listen my next song using my S2? I hope it made sense... I would like to know the answer before friday because I'd like to take my S2 to a small caf | |

Wava Zachery 16.02.2012 | Well your problem could be your using the MBP sound device and not the built in S2 sound card? In traktor try KONTROL S2 as sound device OUPUT ROUTING: MASTER:MASTER L/R MONITOR:MONITOR L/R MASTER out in back of S2 connects to your mixer or AMP and plug your headphones into the front jack and adjust the volume/cue mix good luck |
Lashay Walchak 15.02.2012 | Jeez man you need to read instructions or grasp a better understanding of how DJ gear
works cuz this is the most straight forward set-up. The RCA will be the MASTER OUT, or what people hear. The upper middle knob controls master out volume Your headphones will be you MONITOR/CUE, what you hear. There are two knobs on the front face of your unit the left one is for headphone volume, the right one is known as you CUE MIX knob. When this knob is turned all the way left all you will hear is what you are "cueing", again to cue something you need to press the button underneath your EQ's. If you turn this knob all the way right all you will hear is what's being sent to the MASTER OUT. Your gear is very capable of this most basic DJ task, and you should really try to teach yourself about what you've spent hundreds of dollars on. |
Lashell Kieckhefer 15.02.2012 | Well, thanks a bunch mate! So when I have that RCA cable i can pre listen music with my S2, right? That's all I need to do? |
Lashay Walchak 15.02.2012 | Yeah, aka RCA been around for decades. |

Lashay Walchak 15.02.2012 | That cable your speaking of would be connected to the back as Master Out, then you plug your headphones is the front and turn cue on with the button with the headphone on it just below your EQ controls. Also make sure you headphone volume and mix controls are turned up/on. Theses are found at the front of the unit. |
Lashell Kieckhefer 15.02.2012 | Well, I'll try to explain it more accurate. I used to have a Hercules DJ RMX Controller, it was fun for a while but I did not like it at all because I could net pre listen tracks. Now that I have the S2 I normally should be able to cue my next track. The setup would be like this: - There is someone who got his DJ setup there (2X Denon players and a mixer) - I would have my MBP and my Hercules RMX there, I only had to hook it up with a cable from my MBP headphones input to channel 3 on the mixer and I would be able to play my songs, using my controller. Now with my S2, I would like to do the same thing by just using that cable to connect to the mixer. But I still can not cue a song on my controller. I really don't know what my setting should look like to cue a song... |
Lashay Walchak 15.02.2012 | The headphones are for cueing or "per listening" the master outs on the back of the unit are to send audio to an amp/speaker/other external source of sound that you plug into. There are either 1/4" outs or RCA outs. If your planning on people gathering around your laptop to play for them you need to look at customizing your sound card settings to use ur internal peaked as you master out, and the s2's monitor out as your monitor. I'm not sure how to do this on a Mac. |
