Do I need a Soundcard for the S4?
Do I need a Soundcard for the S4? Posted on: 18.02.2012 by Digna Zukosky Hello, I'm just getting into DJing and I've just recently picked up a Traktor S4. So far I'm loving the bits out of thing as I'm starting to learn all of the ins and outs. I was wondering if an external sound-card would be necessary for the S4. Other than more inputs/outputs/mic-hookups, I believe Traktor said that the controller has the same sound card that the Traktor 8 uses. Is a sound card necessary for gigs? To reduce latency? Thanks Andrew | |

Annalisa Shogren 19.02.2012 | Ok, it uses the same components. Plus a mic preamp and a stereo channel... |
Ngan Ernestine 19.02.2012 | obv, it's neither equivalent to an a4dj nor to an ta6r. the a4dj lacks mic preamp as well as direct thru (the s4 features one mic preamp and one stereo channel with thru capability). the ta6 is 6-in/6-out, whereas the interface in the s4 is 4-in/4-out. also, the s4 provides one stereo channel (the one called "master") as both RCA as well as a balanced dual TRS out. neither a4dj nor ta6 have an balanced out. |
Annalisa Shogren 19.02.2012 | It's got the Audio 4 built in. http://www.native-instruments.com/#/...-s4/?page=1748 |
Chuck Intravia 19.02.2012 | ^^ That. You only need a big soundcard for complex set ups like 4 turntables or more than 1 controller. Keep it simple, the more you add, the more latency. |
Jody Goman 18.02.2012 | No you do not need a soundcard with the s4....and i believe it comes with the audio 6...not 8. |
