Considering an S2
Considering an S2 Posted on: 05.02.2012 by Ladonna Schlender Hi all,I've just invested in Serato SL3 and a pair of dicers to go with my CDJ 400's and DJM 800. It is bulky and even when choosing Serato I thought it might be nice to have both. With the price drop on the S2 I am considering it because it is small, so would be easy to carry around just to mess about with and I believe it comes with the full Traktor programme. Can the S2 make use of all that Traktor has to offer (apart from using 4 decks)? Would I be missing out on anything (apart from 4 decks)? Any advice and user experiences would be gratefully received | |

Chong Prestwich 27.02.2012 | i believe the S2 is well worth the money. however imho "club standard" will not be any type of controller or even timecode, but simply cdj2000 with sd card / usb stick with all the tunes gridded up on rekordbox. the bigger / showier (is that a word?) djs will still use a variety of tools for remixing on the fly etc, but any dj should now be able to show up at a half-decent club and plug his sd cards into the clubs cdj2000s and of ya go... |
Portia Zagula 26.02.2012 | I'm getting the S2 tomorrow and can not be more excited. It has everything you need in an excellent looking package and an unbeatable price. I mean come on, how often do you really use 4 decks?.. If your answer was a lot, then get the S4. But if your like 80% of the DJ world the S2 will be more than enough. Plus like Jiggle said the S2 can be mapped to do everything the S4 can. The only other reason I can believe to get the S4 is if you wanna plug your CDJs or vinyl into it, that way you can have $400-$2000 jogwheels that look really cool... |
Kami Sawan 26.02.2012 | Do not buy it |
Romona Luthe 08.02.2012 | I'm also considering the same move. Thinking that it might be in my best interests to give Traktor a go-around this route rather than investing in a timecode solution. If all systems are go it might be time to ditch SSL. |
Jarod Perrodin 05.02.2012 | the s2 can use everything in traktor, including 4 decks. There are a few maps (click in my sig) you can add to gain control over everything. As standard the filter is on a clicky nob, which nobody likes, but thats easily fixed. For its current price Id definitely say to get one I love my s2 and everyone i know with one feels pretty much the same |
