My New S4 and the Experience I have running on Windows 7 Posted on: 15.03.2012 by Gilda Schreider I was torn between the two wasn't sure what to go with the New VCI-400 Gold Edition or the S4I haven't touched a set of decks since 2002/2003 so digital is all new to me, I winded up with the S4 due to the option of having turntables and other preference that I have. Being that my laptop just went crap 3 months ago… 3 months ago I purchased what I believe is HP's flagship Laptop DV7 it’s a 17" with beats audio and a mini sub woofer built in I saw it as an extra I didn't really care about all the lil advertising about beats audio IMO beats suck but on this laptop if you listen to mine compared to others it blows others out the water including the ones that claim they have Harmon/JBL in them it has a total of 5 speakers loud and clear. I am actually impressed…. Quad core intell i5 w/ Turbo Boost 8G of ram upgradable to 16G 750 hd There are several models in the DV7 line this one I purchased from bestbuy... I have read all the complaints about running Traktor on windows and was nervous preparing myself for the worst. I purchased the S4 anyway and tried to load the software, it wouldn’t load I had the trial version on my system that worked with no issues I had to delete that before uploading the full version. After installing the full complete version and making sure my system was fully updated as well as Traktor I tried to play music from iTunes it would load quick but when I pressed play it wouldn’t do anything. I then had some music files not in iTunes and they worked I had some popping noise this was the only major issue so far. I PMed Smittten and he gave me some great advise Thanks again for all your help. What I did was also read Windows 7 Tuning Tips for Audio Processing from NI’s site Here is the Link: http://www.native-instruments.com/kn...dio+Processing DPC Latency Checker: This will help determine if you will have issues http://www.thesycon.de/eng/latency_check.shtml LatencyMon: This will help you determine what the cause is http://resplendence.com/latencymon Everything else it said to do in the Prep article I already done previously when I purchased the laptop 3 months ago… After all was said and done there was one single driver making the Latency sky rocket this was my WiFi yes Smittten mentioned this as one of the things to do and I knew about this before I messaged him but totally forgot I guess your used to having WiFi on all the time you might forget lol… So I disabled the WiFi then plugged in the S4 low and behold the Blue screen of death. The laptop shut down and tried to go into repair mode did this 3 times it would act as if it had a virus.. This is what I found out my laptop has 4 USB ports two of which are 3.0 and two are 2.0. The S4 USB is a dedicated 2.0 and I had mine plugged into the 3.0 I thought my 3.0 would be backwards compatible but come to find out its picky it would work with 2.0 thumb drives and other things but not full on hardware. I disconnected and it worked like a charm… I did notice the music file I loaded took a rather long time to load I didn’t have time last evening to check another song and see if it was just the one I tried or something else happening. I will let ya all know who is interested and once again thank you Smittten for all your help and quick response… | |

Gilda Schreider 21.03.2012 | What sounds like a hassle |
Jaleesa Zheng 21.03.2012 | Sounds like a hassle. |
Gilda Schreider 20.03.2012 | My wife called me and said the DJTT S4 DVD came in cant wait till I get off work |
Glennis Cartin 18.03.2012 | That's pretty normal bro. The master light is lit when there is no record playing forward - so if you're scratching, Traktor will be constantly switching to internal master clock and back to the deck - so no stress. (only freak out if the USB led flashes like a mofo ) |
Gilda Schreider 18.03.2012 | I was messing with the S4 this evening and was scratching and noticed the master led is going nuts I read some place about adjusting a sample setting??? Anyone heard of this? |
Gilda Schreider 17.03.2012 | Thanks for the tip |
Charline Dye 16.03.2012 | As far as the song taking awhile to load, Traktor analyzes each new track. Look at the bar on the bottom of the Traktor screen it will tell you if it is analyzing. You can analyze in bulk when you import songs to Traktor. |
Gilda Schreider 16.03.2012 | Bump |
