S4 Master Output Channel 1 not working, 2 is working fine Posted on: 31.07.2011 by Henry Oltjenbruns Hi,Last week I started getting bad sound out of channel 1 and now there is nothing, either out of RCA or 1/4 inch.. Sound is fine coming out of channel 2 but I need both channels if Im using powered speakers.. I have upped the Latency to the slowest, but I have had the S4 for months now with no issues and I feel I have treated it well that something shouldnt have broken loose. I have reinstalled the drivers for both the S4 and TP2 and even updated to the new S4 driver 3.0. I have tried every USB connection on my computer. I also occasionally am getting loud humming out of the Monitor port. I have no crackles or drop outs to suggest Latency issues. Using a Duel Core i5 PC with 4GB ram. Wireless is off. I have looked through all the settings and there is nothing to suggest anything is wrong. I use the S4 as the main soundcard and I know i could get an external soundcard to fix the problem, but ive spent a lot of money on the S4 I want to use it as is.. Has anyone else come across this problem? Or are their any suggestions on how to fix it, I imagine its a hardware issue, but there are a lot of smart suggestions on here im hoping can help me. | |

Henry Oltjenbruns 31.07.2011 | Thanks mate, already have contacted them, will let you know what they say |
Leeanna Ayla 31.07.2011 | That shouldn't mess up your sound at all. I believe maybe you need to contact NI. |
Henry Oltjenbruns 31.07.2011 | Thanks Photojojo and Jonathan, Ive tried tightening the headphone jack which might help with the buzzing i get out of it, but that comes and goes very infrequently, however its not the headphone jack thats the problem, its the Master Output 1 both 1/4 inch and RCa and doesnt look like there is anything to tighten. One thing I forgot to mention is I havent been using a power cable for over a month now as I lost it, but it has been sounding great until this happened last week. I dont know if that affects anything other than the LEDs and the volume of the Headphones.. |
Leeanna Ayla 31.07.2011 | Try tightening the nut on the headphone jack. Not to tight though and don't use pliers. |
Henry Oltjenbruns 31.07.2011 | Tried Monitoring via my Realtek Card and both sides worked fine.. Guess this means Hardware huh? |
Lin Danek 31.07.2011 | Try monitoring your S4 via your laptop's 3.5mm plug, using the built-in soundcard (Realtek, WDM etc.) and see if you get the same result. If NOT - its software, not hardware. |
Henry Oltjenbruns 31.07.2011 | Yep, it is active on both sides.. |
Lin Danek 31.07.2011 | Are both channels active in Output Routing-Output Master? |
