Win7 - Disable ACPI? Try this: Posted on: 16.02.2013 by Brunilda Kora I've been having audio issues with Windows 7, even after some pretty serious optimising.Nothing really serious - but I knew I could get better performance out of my laptop. I've tried a lot of different ways to get around the Win 7 ACPI issues, and I knew that ACPI was causing some serious hard page faults from using DPC Checker and LatencyMon. As a last ditch effort, I thought I'd try removing the battery... Bugger me if all my ACPI problems didn't just stop! Try it - see what results you get... | |

Karolis Petrauskas 20.02.2013 | Yes blackviper! Good call. |
Latoria Kavulich 20.02.2013 | you can add smitten's tweaks into the list you can modify in gamebooster. also check out black vipers win 7 tweaks here http://www.blackviper.com/2009/10/01...-super-tweaks/ |
Karolis Petrauskas 19.02.2013 | A man on the move! Also Dropbox FTW. |
Len Lukawski 19.02.2013 | https://www.dropbox.com/s/i9fez007rs...mizer-BETA.exe This is a .exe version It's about a year old. Best I can do from the phone. |
Karolis Petrauskas 19.02.2013 | Game booster is great and I have used it but I believe with smittten's script my machine runs smoother. The issue with gamebooster is that you sometimes can lose custom settings when it upgrades. |
Maile Dekerlegand 19.02.2013 | game booster http://www.iobit.com/gamebooster.html |
Karolis Petrauskas 19.02.2013 | Have you tried smittten's script? It makes my windows machines run smooth and it's super easy to use. Smitten, do you have a current link handy? |
Nedra Fresneda 19.02.2013 | Bastards. It was nice to keep the battery in case of a power cut. |
Brunilda Kora 19.02.2013 |
been around at least since XP

Doreen Schurle 17.02.2013 | I can confirm this; things changed significantly with NT6.0 with regards to the HAL, it's essentially an all-in-one solution which automatically detects and enables features. One of its prerequisites is, as you said, ACPI. The thing is, I can't imagine why having ACPI support would significantly impact your latency. In fact, I've had a look over on the NI community s where people seem to be going mental about this, but we're talking about fractions of miliseconds here; I've quite happily got my Reloop Contours at ~5ms on Windows 8, and I haven't even remotely TRIED to optimize anything. Plus, the distance between the speakers and your audience adds 1ms per foot anyway... |
Brunilda Kora 17.02.2013 | Maybe it's a Vaio thing - but I couldn't even disable the ACPI on my machine. And I've done LOTS of searching on t'interweb... From Microsoft Answers:

Len Lukawski 16.02.2013 | Changing the default system font to Tahoma is pretty much THE best thing you can do. |

Kristofer Krauel 16.02.2013 | Agree. Disabling battery manager was the most effective optimisation step I could take on my windows machine. |
Latoria Kavulich 16.02.2013 | IMO this is the Number 1 optimisation you can use for windows machines. using the dpc checker before and after this will make it obvious. |

Brunilda Kora 16.02.2013 | Doesn't do THING IN wIN 7... |
Latoria Kavulich 16.02.2013 | You can remove the battery. Easier just to disable ACPI Compliant Control Method Battery in the device manager. |
