Powered USB Hub for Mac
Posted on: 28.02.2013 by Mirian Gaura
Hi.

I have a MacBook Pro Retina and soon to pick up a Kontrol S4.

I am wanting to eventually add two Kontrol F1 to my set up for ultimate control. The new mac's only have two USB ports so I could do with a powered USB hub because I aim to have the following plugged in:

- 1 x Kontrol S4
- 2 x Kontrol F1
- 1 x connection for a Mouse (just incase)
- a spare port for a USB flash stick now and again.

Might sound cheesy but wouldn't mind a LED flashing one for a bit of fun but! I'm believeing a 5/6 port one.

Any recommendations/links? Anything I should consider?

Cheers

I brought this > http://uk.shopping.com/Trust-Trust-1...-Hub/info?sb=1 < about 6months+ ago maybe longer, and i haven't had any problems with it at all. I always have 2 Kontrol X1's plugged into it, Maschine and some other bits, not pricey what so ever for the amount of ports you get (10). And the one that @Karlos Santos looks very nice, and good price too.

Now that is really really handy as I have both. Would be cool to know it can charge both and not f**k anything up.

Cheers.

Macally USB hub, its USB 2.0 but i like the layout and can be powered or unpowered, right now im running mine unpowered with an X1 and F1 plugged into it and runs great, wont even need to make it powered unless i add maschine or something. I am using the smaller version but i know you posted that you wanted a bigger one.

I use the hub that came with Rock Band for the xbox... It's powered at least.

I picked up one of the Belkin 7 port powered usb hubs off ebay for $9.99/shipped. I use it with my macbook and it powers all the gear listed in my signature with no issue. I can also charge my iphone too (dont have an ipad) plus you said you wanted to some led lighting this thing shines bright blue too. Heres the link where I picked it up http://www.ebay.com/itm/Belkin-Hi-Sp...item5653337072

I have this and this is the only one the Native Instruments use at their HQ. If asked they always recommend it.

This can also charge your iPad/iPhone.

Nope, the occasional USB stick but all tracks will be played from Internal SSD or sometimes via Thunderbolt/Firewire External Drive.

Manhattan:

Considering you aren't doing transfers? USB 2.0 should be fine, from Manhattan I would say this
