Judging from the controls/waveforms shown in the video it looks like a virtual Nord Lead. I still say they'd be clever to sell a MIDI keyboard with a physical 1:1 representation of the controls offered in the software. The entire unit could be sold for less than

lol

Would be great if NI finally introduced a keyboard to go along with it.

Yeah it's too bad NI don't make a machine like that. Oh wait....

Been pondering this at work all day. I believe i'm getting tired of soft synths. Never could work out a midi mapping that I would honestly choose over the old point and click for editing sounds. Just seems more efficient for me. Hardware is starting to look really good right now and some of these new synths are pretty reasonable. I heard someone say that if you figure in the cost of your vst's along with the price of updates over the years it's not too far from the cost of hardware these days.

I believe I might just ditch komplete and switch to a pair of synths and operator.

I believe they could make a killing off a hardware software keyboard combo. However I believe would require a reimagining of their entire soft synth lineup. Or maybe they could have something like FM8's easy view where you can tweak simple parameters and then have an expert view for getting Into deeper programming. I have a little phatty that I love playing with because its way faster to tweak and play with sounds, just wish I had this same feeling with soft synths

It''s going to be a modular stand alone VST, With a reaktr backend.

SO you can buy the "basic" VST/synth. Then add(buy) modules for it. kind of like a dopher. The reaktor back end will allow you to make custom modules for it.

They probably molded it after a bunch of modular synths and even some of there down vsts and other analog synths.

I don't believe it will have a midi side to it, but I wouldn't put it past them.

Sound like a real time circuit modeled VA synth to maybe compete with Dvia, but more modular. Judging by the prominent M for monark which sounds kind of like modular and hints in the video it looks like a modular interface.

It could be a dedicated controller with software which would be cool but probably software.

it's definitely not massive 2 or anything like that

Massive 2 or massive replacement or Massave or Masynth or Mosynth or Mysynth or Moshive. for crying out aloud what is the M in the video for?

I don't see the added value for NI to release a hardware + software combo. They've got a good thing going on with Maschine, integrating all their instruments into that one. Users can buy a generic midi controller for detailed control of those instruments when the Maschine doesn't work for you.

The market for generic midi controller keyboards is crowded enough as it is and the newer models hardly add extra features, so what would NI want to do in that?

I like the sound of the new synth, but owning Komplete 8, I believe i'll wait till it's included in a Komplete 9 upgrade.

Massive 2.0?

I'd love to see them push out something more than just the generic midi keyboard controller though. Something like a Virus TI would be awesome. Having an amazing VST integrated seamlessly with solid hardware that would also take care of the processing and give my cpu a break. On board ins and outs for standalone use which could also be doubled as an audio interface if so desired. All at a $1000ish price point.

Oh one could dream...
I guess I just want the Virus

I don't believe we will see any new MIDI controller soon as their MKII version of Maschine are pretty young on the market. However if they do a more "traditional" keyboard thing, then yes, I would be in. Something like my beloved Novation Remote would be great.

As usual we're still 2 weeks or so after another teaser, a month before all the official info/pre-release.. and then in september they'll include it in Komplete 9... only speculations

I'm sort of hoping this new synth is an actual synth, and not a soft synth. Seeing how they have been putting out hardware left and right over the last couple years, this seems somewhat like a logical next step. That being said, I can't help but feel it would be slightly underwhelming next to a Virus or Prophet. Crossing my fingers though!
Nah, it says on their site it's a software synth. No hardware for you!

In all seriousness, NI would be far better served pushing out a cheap(ish) MIDI controller and a software synth as an all-in-one package, kinda like how they did with the S2 and Traktor.
