Connection setup: DJM800 to powered speakers and powered sub. Posted on: 07.12.2013 by Amanda Dundore Hello guys.I need to connect a pair of QSC K12 speakers and a JBL JRX118SP subwoofer to a Pioneer DJM800 mixer. Not sure how to go about it. According to the K12 manual, I should connect: Mixer to K12, K12 to K12, K12 to sub http://qsc.com/files/9513/5117/4032/...p_ENG_RevA.pdf According to the JBL JRX118SP manual (page 16: Mono sub with powered Mid/High), I should connect: Mixer to sub, sub to both K12 using one XLR cable only? http://www.jblpro.com/BackOffice/Pro...ts/DOC_833.pdf I'm confused, please help! | Amanda Dundore 08.12.2013 | Thanks all for your replies. I'll try both of makar1's suggestions and see the results first as I would like to avoid buying extra hardware. About the first suggestions: 2 XLRs from your mixer to your sub, then 2 more XLRs from your sub to each K12. As shown in the 1st diagram on page 16 of the JBL manual. That means there will only ONE XLR cable per K12. Will that work? If so, I take it they will be mono as units but stereo as a pair? Thanks again. |
| Alphonso Deitchman 09.12.2013 | You can bypass the JBL crossover/HPF by going directly from the mixer to the K12s, then from the K12s to the subs. |
| Ninfa Mazariegos 09.12.2013 | That setup will work fine. There was a bar that I used to dj at that had a jbl sub that you could connect your tops to. I found that using the jbl's crossovers sounded OK, but one day I hooked up my balanced Minidsp 2x4 and set my own crossovers and was able to get a much cleaner, smoother response that could play louder before it would clip. If you want to get the most out of your system, I highly recommend getting a digital sound processor. |

| Tera Baragan 07.12.2013 | When they talk about a mixer, they are talking about a PA system mixer. Not a djing mixer. You need a lil bastard like this to run your powered speakers into and also to run your dj mixer into. http://www.google.ca/url?sa=i&rct=j&...86546281025017 That one i posted is abit overkill but you get the drift. An amp could also come into play but Im not a fan as your speakers are already powered. |
