Looking to buy an intro controller for Traktor 2.5
Posted on: 04.08.2012 by Rima Kanoho
I've already got the korg nano series and I'm pretty happy w/ the way I have them setup but I want something I can actually work with and not feel like I look like I'm just mashing my pads. Any suggestions would be great.

First controller. Actually have a S4 coming in next week so I'll be learning that for a while. Good to start on something stable I suppose.

And if you're interested I have a twitch for sale for $300. I'm just looking to downsize so I getting rid of it.
I would get that one in a heartbeat but I'm swamped with HW and SW (like tons of plug-ins I purchased and yet to be used...) Twitch is a really good concept.

Well thats great man. Good choice. All I was gonna say is that a two track controller would be a bit less confusing for a first controller, all I know is that if I had bought a four track first I wouldnt know what the fuck to do with it haha. But good choice, although it may take a while to get used to, itll be solid in the long run.

Usually road cases for S4s are *heavy*. If you are going to spend time with the S4 in a gig bus it might make sense. For flying most take it inside the cabin with a smaller good bag. PS: Twitch is much smaller.

So ive talked to this guy and i'm kinda apprehensive about the price. BUT it comes w/ a road case and both look to be in solid condition.

I have a hercules 4-mx which i paid 400 for but feel like a fool now for not getting something with 4 volume faders and more buttons and knobs. If i were you and were buying a controller I wouldn't look to deeply into the jog wheels If you want to use the jog wheels a lot get vinyl or cdjs both feel immensely better in my opinion (from what I've learned in my purchasing experiences). I now rock vinyl and don't even touch my jog wheels vinyl also helped me move away from my controllers easy ability of syncing and allowed me to learn to transition a little more similar to a pro

the torq xponent is dirt cheap these days the controls don't feel all that amazing but its a solid controller with modding opportunities

Look out for a secondhand Vestax VCI 100, there should be loads around as everyones jumped ship to get the new Native Instruments beasts or the newer Vestax shitznuttz.

I got Faderfox modualrs (DJ2 & DJX) and a Vestax VCI 100........... this was secondhand ... just flashed the firmware to 1.4 and i really love this.

BUT I'm a club DJ and not into going mental with this controllerisum stuff............ So the VCI is just right. I take all controllers out ... Faderfoxes if the space is too small in the booth.

I was going to suggest the Twitch too. I played with one at Guitar Center seems pretty solid, and stuffs.

I would look at a used Novation Twitch. Seen new and used ones for $350 and below at eBay. If you don't miss the jog wheels -- which me believes are very unnecessary with DJ controllers unless you scratch and you seldom like the feeling anyway -- Twitch is a good idea. Has good Traktor mapping, too. Small to transport.
