Not too new tracks and bit rate
Posted on: 17.04.2013 by Jonah Mozeleski
I love some older tracks, for exemple, a song called "Macumba Walele", and well, when I bought it, I saw that the bit rate is 192 kbps, and I had the same problem with other old tracks x.x

What do you use to do when you have to mix some tracks that are not 320 kbps?, do you use any "trick" to get a better sound quality?

Unfortunately most compilation CD's from the 90's were mixed and not individual tunes. Kinda hard to find that stuff at a good bit rate. I just ripped alot of it from vinyl, myself but that's incredibly time consuming and tedious work.

Off topic but also on topic... How hard is digging for 90's 12" mixes in 320 online? I find that with the current rising deep wave trend, you can throw in a lot of 90's anthems in with the top 40 crowd and they absolutely blow the dancefloor to pieces, but the 320 down to whatever bitrate the 90's track is at really sucks out the energy for me. The pissed up crowd go bananas, but for me the magic is lost without that crisp 320 bass/treble.

The problem I had on trackitdown, is this: I mix and produce minimal, and well... is pretty hard to find stores that have "minimal" as a genre, so it's pretty hard to find new tracks, etc... :c

Next time I'll buy from beatport/djtunes, I don't want to get scammed D:

Edit: I just read around itnernet, and they're legal, but they are hosted on Russia (http://www.legalsounds.com/LegalInfo), so the prices are that cheap, because they don't need to pay high taxes, etc..., they don't have a great selection as djtunes/beatport/itunes, but at least they are cheap it_s_something.png

IMO, if there's one thing to not be cheap about, it's buying tunes. A lot of underground producers aren't making shit. Every little bit helps. $1 a tune won't kill you.

I bought that 192 kbps track on legalsounds.com, because there was only that quality :c

But 99,99% of the tracks there are 320 kbps, and are only 0.09$ o.o

Thanks to everyone!
Then, I'll just won't go lower than 256

i wouldn't go lower than 256 (fucking amazon) but even that is very exceptional.

You can never go up in quality.

I believe you can get away with 192 kbps, but 128 kbps is pushing it. It tends to sound really grainy and stuff.

You might have to drop the gain of the 320 kbps track a bit since the 192kbps track won't be able to pushed as much.
