Samples, arrangement, alot of things are out of key, poor chord progression, poor choice of scales and keys, eqing, spacing in your sound... etc etc etc etc etc. Your music just needs ALOT of work my friend. In the end, if you are happy with it, it really doesnt care what we believe. If you REALLY feel that you would want to listen to items you yourself produce, go with that feeling, then play them out in several different renditions, that will be the best gauge of where your music is to other peoples tastes.

For you, I would try for a bar first, small school parties, college parties. Your tracks and yourself are not ready for quite some time for a club. ONce youve secured the less glamorous gigs, landing the clubs will come naturally.

And not sure what thread you are in RV.. but yes.. he is also asking about tracks, because he obviously intends to play his music out... Get with the program or re-read before you try and correct someone?

if u want to play your tracks, you should start out as a DJ. Not ALL successful producers out there started out as DJs.. but DJ is a key skill in not online learning how tracks should mix, but also what sounds good and what doesn

All the DJs i know in my town have started in evening bars, and they grew up to clubs, sometimes big clubs. believe it's also a better school for DJs to start because it's harder to make dance people in bars, and make the crowd crazy, where it's easier in most of the clubs.

Practice.
Thats basically what if been looking for, someone to confirm that for me. I know some evening bars with open mics on Wednesdays, and theres alot of coffee shops and lounges around here.

I posted this cause i honestly didnt know of any clubs in the area and felt it would be a little to far of a jump to start looking for clubs even when i get ready to perform at first.

He's not asking about tracks, he's asking about sets - but good work on the advice.

As other writers have mentioned, go to local clubs and talk to the owners, or how I did it was make mixes and send them out, 1000 copies of each mix, duplicated and handed out to anyone on the community s that enjoyed that style of music - it costs alot but you can't put a price on living your dreams. Good luck.

What kind of music would you describe it?
Incoming banhammer for me - but every time I decide to come back and see if it's changed, it hasn't.

I'd describe it as what I'd put in a bag and throw into the depths of space from an airlock. Also. It's Electro. You aren't starting some badass trend leaving the 'e' out. Please stay in the bedroom for another couple years and then try again.

Like others have mentionned, get involved locally.

There is nothing worse than a newbie who comes into a scene believeing they are the king and who believe they have everything to offer when locally there's already a lot (or a little, it doesn't matter) going on.

It's imperative to know what's happening, if you run without having a clue, then you'll have no support from anyone and you'll most likely piss off other people in the scene. While such reactions may seem childish, I'd simply consider them human decency; you're planning ahead, GOOD, but be humble and don't rush into something you can't already handle or else you'll be over in a hot minute.

percussion programming (no groove) + bad choice of samples - try adding some high end percs (hats, cymbals), play with velocity
mixdowns
arrangement (lots of stuff clashing on that Late Nights tune for example)
sound design, although it's the least important from the four

At this point I'd work on establishing relationships within the scene. Don't push yourself onto anyone as a producer/dj until you actually have something to show. Spend time at clubs, meet the people into the same kind of music, and get involved!

That way, by the time you are ready, you should already have a good idea who to talk to and where to go to find those gigs.

Don't get ahead of yourself!

If you want to play at clubs, you have a better chance if you are part of the scene. Clubs/promoters want DJ's that know people, understand the crowd, and ultimately can put people inside the club. It takes a little more than just a mix or a good track to get booked. Get out and meet people is the best way of landing gigs.

It's been my experience that if you get your name and your mixes out there, gigs will come to you.

Joining or forming a group/society can help your chances significantly. If you can offer to put on a whole evening for a club they're much more likely to be interested.

Just go to the clubs that you enjoy going to and give the manager your mix and talk to the resident dj's. You're over 18 right?

Just go to a club that plays the same genre as you and give the manager a mixtape and if he likes it you will get booked. Pretty simple stuff
