Which Dj music pool is the best ?
Which Dj music pool is the best ? Posted on: 29.03.2011 by Lesa Lubic Hey guys,I want to sign up for the DJ music pools, to get new releases etc, quickly and with full proof that the music is legal. I'm looking for the one that has great hip hop/r&b collection, as well as good house/electro releases. I found few ones' that i believe are pretty good. They are: - djcity.com, - zipdj.com, - digitaldjpool.com, - exclusivegrooves.com, - franchiserecordpool.com, - starfleetmusic.com. So my question is the following: in your opinion which one would u consider the best, or one of the best? Maybe you tried few of this, and believe one definitely stands out out of all of them? The help would be greatly appreciated ! Thx for your time | |

We quite easily have one of the widest selections of music on the web- In any case, we always recommend DJ's come in and take our free 1 week tour of the site to see everything for themselves...The majority of DJ's love what we have, so take it upon yourself to see for yourself, risk free. zipDJ has some specials running in November as well, so now is good timing. Cheers! |
Adrien Hochstrasser 24.07.2011 | Digiwaxx and franchise are good. What sucks is that a lot of these places raise my BS flag (DMS) and you still might end up hunting through a bunch of crap tracks to find good ones. (Videotools is bad about this) Promo Only is great about putting out only good tracks, but it's pretty expensive when you're not playing out 3 times a week, you know? |

Anisa Fourte 22.07.2011 | Liking the look of TheMixTools... I've had a few different DJ pools. I liked ZipDJ, but I look for something with a versatility of tracks rather then centered on just two genres like Zip really is.... I was also with Franchise, which I found the same problem honestly. I felt I needed to be part of several in order to keep up with my style (I spin a little of everything). MixTools looks really promising to me though with such a variety of genres made for DJs, especially with the older stuff being quantized! You know... Gonna sign up for that one now and give it a try... Got a mix to do this weekend and need some new stuff! let you all know how I like it compared to the rest next week. |
Jacqueline Bagan 20.07.2011 | Yooo there's this really great new record pool i've been using called the mix tools - great pool at a very reasonable rate for what they offer Here's a link to check out their blog -- http://www.themixtools.blogspot.com Here's a link to DL a sampler pack of their edits -- http://www.mediafire.com/?vmh1cpybh11be90 the pool has a fantastic selection of ReDrums, DJ Friendly intros/outros, Quick Hitters, Acapella intros/outros, Transition/Segue edits and more for all genres and eras of music. Furthermore unlike many record pools all their edits are QUANTIZED - meaning the song STAYS at 1 speed, or BPM - which is especially important when mixing music from the 80s and beforehand before a lot of the music was quantized (especially important if you use Traktor, for the beatgridding) or for music with live drummers (Rock, Soul, Motown, Oldies, etc) check it out- you WON'T be disappointed. The special DJ Edits from TheMixtools help me stay ahead of my competition. |
Kristin Tesfamichael 24.06.2011 | just joined DMS after reading this thread mostly because I like the way their website layout looks and is designed. ill try it out for this month then see how I feel |

Ida Feacher 13.05.2011 | I use DMS www.DirectMusicService.com |
Johnsie Kingrea 13.05.2011 | Who can compare zipdj and djcity? I'm currently on djcity and feel the selection isn't as diverse as i'd like. Everything is starting to sound the same on there so i'm looking for a bit of variety. |
Madlyn Balay 13.05.2011 | Hey everybody, this is my very first post as I've FINALLY registered for the community
- I'm actually a zipDJ employee. First, I want to make it very clear that I'm NOT here to spam or give biased opinions about our service. All the employees here at zipDJ (including myslef) are DJ's so understand communities like this hate spammers. I simply came across the thread and thought I'd introduce myself in case there were any questions or concerns about zipDJ. Cheers everyone and good to be aboard! |

You just cannot distribute the tracks in any form for example make a mix put it on SoundCloud and allow it to be downloadable. I was a member of BreakTheCrates for a month, but then moved to ZipDJ recently too because it offers a much wider selection of tracks with a lot of great remixes and what not. As for the dude who asked how much Itajen is paying for it, you can either pay for a year together which is $420 (or $35 a month) or you can pay monthly which is $50 a month. I forgot how much it costed for the 3 months / 6 months. I'm paying the $50 a month as I can't really dish out $420 in one go. |
Shalon Jaranilla 29.03.2011 | Anyone heard of franchise record pool, any good i need reggae and latin music, they seem to provide it. 20 dollar a month. They seem to have a lot of hiphop, R&B etc as well. The other one is lmp record pool but on their site you can download already songs directly, without being a member, but the quality is mostly 128 kbs. Don't know if this will be any better when you become a member. So if any one has any knowledge about these record pools. sorry for a bit of hijacking this thread http://www.franchiserecordpool.com/ http://www.lomaximoproductions.com/ |

This week there is a post about ableton dj set ups. http://www.nevernothouse.com/2011/03...ve-set-up.html enjoy, |
Lesa Lubic 29.03.2011 | itajeN, how much are you paying for zipDJ ? You see, i heard a lot of people using djcity, and they dj at clubs, so I don't believe they are doing something illegal....however, zipDJ was a new discovery for me when i googled dj music pools. |

I've just sent an email to djcity with a couple of questions regarding copyright infringement with these pools for use outside the USA, I'll post back if they reply with something useful! |

Pansy Shiveley 28.03.2011 | The first one does indeed - although playing music for other people could in a way be understood as "provide through any means". What worries me most though is the second part, it's pretty explicit: "the service is designed for personal sampling and use". Ain't nothing too ambiguous about that, right? DJ'ing to an audience doesn't sound like anything personal to me? |
Leeanna Ayla 28.03.2011 | That sentence in bold seems to mean you can't distribute copies of the music or at least that's the way I understand it. It doesn't say anything about performing. |
Pansy Shiveley 28.03.2011 | I do realize that's the whole point, and that's why I don't understand why they included that in their Terms of Use. When people from my country's copyright office (or whatever you call that) come check on my music library they're gonna ask where I got all my digital music from, and 9 out of 10 they will never have heard about these pools. What they're probably going to do next is read these Terms of Use, and see that I was not allowed to spin these tunes live. Which leaves me with a huge fine, no matter what all the people on community s may have said. Because in the end, it's just these Terms of Use that matter (assuming the aforementioned pool has valid Terms of Use, of course). However, since these ToU seem to contradict the intention so much, I'm hoping I'm interpreting them wrong, which is why I posted this here: to get opinions from you guys with experience. And unfortunately, just being a member of zipDJ doesn't quite provide the legal reassurance I need - no offence of course. |
Dewey Melchi 28.03.2011 | You guys do realize the whole point of a record pool is to break new songs right? @StephanV - that would kinda of defeat the purpose of it even being a DJ pool correct? You have to give a review of songs if you're a Club DJ - therefore what are you going to do? Just listen to the songs yourself then guess how a club would react to it? I'm a member of zipDJ - so I believe I have a tiny clue of what I'm talking about. |
Lesa Lubic 28.03.2011 | Ohh wow, zipDj is out of the question now....I didn't even see that....this is why u need to read everything carefully... About djcity, unfortunately, yes, djcity isn't very original, the problem is, that clubs in Canada (most of them) aren't very original as well...and I am aiming to dj'ing at a club....I actually went to few of the clubs, not so long ago, and I knew every single song, except some Reggae, that they played....it's kinda sad, because there are so many songs that aren't made popular by damn radios, and they are wicked....but I remember one dj tried to do his thing, and I remember the floor wasn't moving....than he switch to damn, mainstream, and everyone started dancing and having fun...it's sad in my opinion. However that's how it is here..... Also, whitelabel.net will be perfect since I have serato. Thx for your time guys, appreciated! |
Pansy Shiveley 28.03.2011 | The Terms of Use of zipDJ state the following:
5.2 The service has been developed to allow individual end users the opportunity to sample and experience a broad catalog of music at a very reasonable price. By enrolling in the service, you acknowledge and agree that you have no right to provide any files obtained through the service to any other party or through any other means. You may only make copies of any file obtained through the service for your own personal use. WITHOUT LIMITING THE FOREGOING, COPYING OR REPRODUCTION OF THE CONTENT TO ANY OTHER SERVER OR LOCATION FOR FURTHER REPRODUCTION OR REDISTRIBUTION IS EXPRESSLY PROHIBITED. zipDJ reserves the right to immediately and permanently terminate your access to the service if zipDJ believes that you are violating such limitation.
5.3 Because the service is designed for personal sampling and use, you are not allowed to use any automated system for the selection or downloading of files. zipDJ reserves the right to immediately and permanently terminate your access to the service if zipDJ believes that you are violating such limitation. |
Dewey Melchi 28.03.2011 | Go join your own peeps at whitelabel.net :P |
Cristian Carmona 28.03.2011 | i had djcity and it was cool...but i didnt want to sound like the rest of the dj's playing nothing but edits and mush ups. Im looking at zipdj.com its a bit pricey but it can be worth it in the long run. I just wish i could be part of a free pool being that Im a working dj. |
Carolyn Heffren 28.03.2011 | If you're looking for straight hip-hop with some mainstream then check out cicana.com. They get some good stuff plus hip-hop remixes (like luda on a rihanna track rather than a dance version of airplanes). I was there for a bit and got some good stuff. Sometimes I join for a month, grab what I want, then cancel. Horrible, I know =) |
Lesa Lubic 28.03.2011 | From what i heard, djcity is the best.....however just wanted to check maybe there is something else out there.... The cdpool is interesting however I didn't find a lot of hip hop there....plus it's UK, I live in Canada, it would be great for techno music, but for hip hop ( which is the mostly played genre here) it lacks the tracks. Thanks for the quick responses thought! |
Sandi Holbrook 28.03.2011 | i used to use cdpool, it used to be good but recently its gone down hill so stopped my subsription www.cdpool.com |
Carolyn Heffren 28.03.2011 | I like DJCity because they usually get stuff fast and feature many mixes of the same tune. They also offer instrumentals and 'pellas of songs too. |
