Do Vestax own Serato?

Do Vestax own Serato? Apparently they do according to my friend.... He said that he bumped into the Vestax guys at BPM a few years ago and they told him that they do. Not that it really matters but can any of you confirm or deny this statement?

I believe their business model is close to this but the other way around. Rane produces the hardware, Serato produces the software. Serato then sells Rane X amount of software licenses to package with the hardware when sold. When you buy "Serato" you buy a Rane hardware product and receive the license Rane has already paid/contacted for.

Either way, they are totally two separate companies.

Did you even bother researching this "fact" before you decided to write it as such?! The level of misinformation circulated as fact is astonishing!!

No they don't. Never have, never will. Rane is based in Everett Washington. Serato is a New Zealand Company founded in the 90s. Rane simply produces the hardware. But in no shape or form are they the same company.

This is completely wrong. Please do not put out info you know nothing about as if it were true.

Look back at the release of the Rane 62 where Serato AND Rane announced their contract extension and continued partnership. They are separate companies.

"Rane Corporation is the company that exclusively manufactures the hardware necessary to operate a fully functional Scratch Live system utilizing Serato Control Vinyl and CD.
Serato Scratch Live software is licensed exclusively to Rane Corporation."

So are you trying to say NI owned the final scratch boxes because they had a similar partnership altho back then stanton's name was all over everything.

I'm pretty confident they are just contracted and licensed to build the hardware and rane doesn't actually own serato.

Unless things have changed (I'll admit sometimes I'm not up to date), Serato is it's own company, but Rane happens to be the only company given the distribution and licensing rights for Scratch Live.
