Remix Decks not starting on the 1
Posted on: 01.05.2013 by Libbie Deutchman
Just picked up an F1. Loving it so far. I'm having this issue though where if I sync the Remix Deck to the Track Deck that's playing and the deck is quantized to 4, the samples don't start on the 1. They all quantize just fine and sync great, but they're all starting on the 2.

Anyone else have this issue? What am I doing wrong?

If I am just playing with the remix set and am not trying to sync it to a deck, this works no problem. Basically the issue is the Remix Decks just never seem to know what the 1 is when a track deck is the master.
Hmm thats interesting. I tried it out on my f1 and I have the same problem. Tbh I've had my fair share of problems with the f1, they really need to start ironing out some of these glitches, especially with the quantize.

If I set quantize to 1, I hit the pad, it starts on the next beat and it's fine. I can hit it right on the 1 and it's synced perfectly. If I set quantize to 4 and I hit the pad in the middle of a 4 beat phrase, it doesn't always start on the 1 of that phrase.

Say I hit the pad just after 2. It will start flashing like it's waiting for the downbeat, but instead of dropping on the 1, it drops on the 2. If I hit the pad between 3 and 4, it flashes like it should, then drops on the 2.

Yeah, it's weird. Must be a bug or something. This is really the only issue I've had with the F1 so far. And honestly, I guess I can just not be lazy and hit the pads when I want them to go.

Ah well. Thanks for humoring me.

I want to give you the benefit of the doubt, but are all of your beatgrids set such that the grid marker is a downbeat (you can check this pretty easily by finding the grid marker, starting the track there, and determining whether or not it's a downbeat, or with the beats-to-cue feature), and are you pressing the buttons at the right time?

Yeah, the loops are all perfectly fine. Nudge, offset, everything is spot on. If I set quantize to 1, I can play them all no problem and everything sounds awesome.

The problem is getting the downbeat on the remix deck to be the same as the track deck that is the master. They don't always start on the 2, sometimes it's the 3, sometimes the 4, sometimes I luck out and it's the 1.

You need to read the manual, because this could be due to a number of things. Is the offset set correctly? Do the samples have any silence at the their beginning? Is nudge set correctly?
