Future of Djing
Posted on: 14.05.2013 by Avis Lekic
Just somewhere were you can post your opinions and ideas of where you believe djing is heading. Whether its the type of music genre or the gear we use.

Do you believe everything will be using touch screen controllers and CD-J's will be a thing of the past? Will live performance and sampling become more popular?

Just interested to hear what people have to say!

IMO- DJ'ing will not progress till the community, as a whole, lets it grow... That means for any and everyone who uses, or is a DJ, needs stop seeing boundaries, and start seeing opportunities, to learn something and teach anything.

For a community that is flooded with - crap DJ's, crap music, crap gear, and guys who have crap attitude and egos, who argue (more then share) of what they "know"- DJ'ing is a self-secluded, redundant laden-orgy, of an egotistical M

Neither do most DJ's/Producers. "jesus pose" or "arms in the air" is not stage presence

Will take a pretty sick algorithm, but it if someone were to invest some bucks it would def be possible

As for computers just playing music, and mixing it, the technology is already there. It's called "radio"

That would have far more reaching implications than just DJ'ing

That one is actually currently up in the air.. I saw a really well done DB:2 video and I believe I'm in love..

EDIT: Well done as in it showed the features in detail.

It's a body to worship.

The future of DJ'ing to YOU ends when you get older and no longer have an interest in going to clubs. It happens.

I believe that whilst the gear will change, the principles at it's core will stay the same.

2 TT's/CDJ/Decks of some sort and mixer. And an effects unit unless the mixer's ones are utilised.

I believe that whilst we can chuck as much gear at the DJ'ing game as we want and some cool stuff arises, the basic layout and the way DJ's work play their tracks back will remain pretty constant. Mind you i'd guess theres been more of a shakeup to what DJ'ing is all about in the past 5 years than ever before.

I believe a mix of tablet devices and controller hardware will eventually be the norm.

Controllers will probably take over in the long run. But as I said before, you don't see many controllers in Copenhagen. Many people here play strictly vinyl.
