New Set Up HELP DJM800 + 2- Kontrol x1s + What interface 4 channel mixing Hey guys, I'm just in the process of changing my set up over to 2 X1s and my DJM800, the question I have is, can I get any interface (because I would like one that will be good for producing, as I am just starting to scratch the surface there) or do I have to get a traktor audio 8 or 10 if I would like my 2 Kontrol x1s to be run into the four channels on my mixer. The interfaces that have the most appeal to me and my budget are the M-Audio Profire 610, Akai EiE Pro and the Apogee Duet. With the Akai and M-audio would it be possible to buy 1/4" conversion cables to RCA, so that I could have the outputs from the interface running into the DJMs 4 RCA channels? If you guys can help me out here or have any suggestions feel free to put your input in.
Thanks! |

Is there anything really cheap and basics that's pretty well just a jog wheel since I have all other controls on the Zomo, and did you map it yourself or do you use the mapping it came with?

I can see that you can adjust the loop size with the zomo but are you able to browse through your track by how ever many bars you choose?
Thanks

It's up to you mate You could get a single X1 to use for decks C/D and use the Zomo for A/B, or have the Zomo mapped for something completely different; but you can use the Zomo to output the audio for all 4 decks whatever configuration you choose

Grace Gatica 11.06.2013 | I was in the same situation as you yesterday, however i found someone who would trade their x1 with $10 for my f1. I feel as though the X1 is better than the zomo apart from the soundcard, but thats just me. Also buying an Audio 8 will also benefit me with production as well so didnt really lose anything as i could just sell my X1s if i wanted to. |
Doreen Schurle 10.06.2013 | Congratulations on your new purchases!

Just updated it a few minutes ago to fix a bug with preselected FX |
Yukiko Spruell 11.06.2013 | MCDs mappings are already posted up on here for download. They should come up if you search for "zomo" |

Alphonso Deitchman 05.06.2013 | If your X1s come/came with accessory vouchers, you can get the NI Kontrol Stand for half price which raises the controller to perfect mixer height and is very sturdy. It also doubles as a protective case for transport. |
Hipolito Scionti 05.06.2013 | for 3 stereo outs and a good procuction AI i'd go with this. Personally never use more than two decks let alone three... though you could route two remix decks to the 3rd stereo out

Also X1s are nice, and fit nicely next to a DJM... I wouldn't want to lean over with that zomo or shove it up... controller next to mixer feels ergonomically right to me |

it does indeed you will find you will need to buy a firewire cable seperately from the profires supplied one as the 2 that came when i got miy profire were firewire mini and a firewire 400 6 pin style you need an 9 pin to 6 pin firewire lead |

Alphonso Deitchman 05.06.2013 | Audio 8s are fairly cheap now; there's also the ESI Gigaport. Out of the interfaces you linked, only the M-Audio 610 has enough outputs for 4 Traktor decks.
You could also aggregate 2 sound cards together to get the required number of outputs as this can be done very easily on Macs. |
Lyn Vernali 06.06.2013 | Thanks for your input! I'll check it out, and does your interface work well with Macs? And do you know will the 1/4" to RCA cables work on any interface properly sent to the mixer? |
Oretha Afful 06.06.2013 | Might be a little out of your budget but I used to use a Motu Ultralite MK3. Thing is a tank and has amazing sound quality.
Still use it in my studio and honestly will probably never have to buy another audio interface again.
You just use 1/4" to rca cables for the conversion. yes.
the Akai only has 4 outputs, you need 4 sets of outputs technically. |
