Converting Large files to MP3
Converting Large files to MP3 Posted on: 28.06.2013 by Ashlyn Gaulrapp I made a mash-up of 2 songs and recorded it, but the files size now is huge! :O i used two songs around 10MBs each but the 5 minute mash-up came out to be over 50MBS... I want to convert it to a 320kbps file to upload to soundcloud. Are there any free ways of doing this? | |

Ashlyn Gaulrapp 29.06.2013 | Ended up using iTunes, it's very simple once you get your settings right. Just click and convert Thanks |
Monserrate Rupnow 29.06.2013 | Nothing, it just takes up more space and usually doesn't sound any better than VBR. Years ago not all players would support VBR so CBR was often recommended, these days not so much. The real question is why use MP3 instead of AAC. |
Brunilda Kora 29.06.2013 | I use MP3Gain for that. What's wrong with CBR??? |
Alphonso Deitchman 29.06.2013 | Looks like it's just a GUI for FFMPEG and doesn't actually convert anything itself so it's not as bad as I expected. CBR is a waste of space though and the program doesn't offer any VBR options, and of course offers no volume controls for those undergained recordings. |
Brunilda Kora 29.06.2013 | Yeah - I'm always wary of that! I've been using it for at least a year now, no issues whatsoever - does exactly what it says it does, and does it well. |
Latoria Kavulich 29.06.2013 | Looks like a nice wee app mate. Don't get too click happy with the install though, looks like it wants you to add a yahoo toolbar etc. |
Brunilda Kora 29.06.2013 | I only use it to convert from .wav/.flac/.aiff to 320 .mp3. But if there is a well established reason NOT to use this type of freeware to convert to .mp3, I'll reconsider... |
Latoria Kavulich 29.06.2013 | Personally, i use audition because thats what i master my mixes in anyway. but coverting to 128's for podomatic, i just do it in iTunes. |
Brunilda Kora 29.06.2013 | Can anyone give me a good reason NOT to use Converterlite??? It's easy to use, reliable, and sounds perfectly good to my ears... But I'm always open to suggestions... |
Latoria Kavulich 28.06.2013 | iTunes is fine. Check the conversion options you want in the import tab. |
Verlene Geevarghese 28.06.2013 | Yes sir you are indeed correct. Not having Itunes on any on my win7 machines, I appear to have forgotten that it's multi platform . |

Alphonso Deitchman 28.06.2013 | Don't use those gimmicky freeware programs if you care about quality and want decent encode options. |

Antonetta Wikel 28.06.2013 | itunes |
Joesph Kasian 28.06.2013 | I use db power amp converter. |
Alphonso Deitchman 28.06.2013 | Goldwave or Audacity with the LAME MP3 encoder. |
