Diesel generator for small party in field

Alright people.

Having a small outdoor gathering in a field in UK. I have access to a generator which i believe is rated at about 6kw.

We have a small PA system running off this amp http://cpc.farnell.com/1/1/36886-pow...stageline.html

There will be a few lights but nothing major at all. All LED style lights so shouldnt be a massive draw of power.

I'm presuming this is plenty of power that this amp is giving out?

Is there anything i need to be aware of? The generator has mains sockets built into it into which i was going to plug surge protected sockets before any of the kit.

Any do's and don'ts?

And beer fridge whats wroung with using a esky sorry beer cooler or cool box depending where your are congrats on getting married.

Just saw jesters post after posting good to know a board will cut it.
An under-rated generator can - and probably will - damage your gear . I can't see any possible way that an over-rated one could, however. As long as the voltage is matched (you're not plugging a 24V device into a 240V generator), then the ball - when it comes to current flow - is in the court of the device, not the generator. The laptop/amp/etc pulls power FROM the generator, the generator doesn't push it out to the devices.

As for the straight comment.... Are the people that don't understand it in the UK, and are you just being funny or do you really not understand
I'm in the UK and literally had NO fucking clue what he meant... at first I had all sorts of weird mental imagery about it being a "crank-type" hand generator and something about pistons, and then eventually I realised he wasn't talking about sexuality whatsoever. Still not 100% sure what he ACTUALLY meant, although I'm assuming - like someone said above - that he meant someone who was sober lol.

Tbh someone's sexual preference doesn't have to do with ANYTHING unless they're hosting an orgy, but you know what people are like these days with political correctness

Ok that makes sense, I just don't want to blow up my gear.

Yep, that Jenny has more than enough juice to run your stuff. I would suggest setting it up at least 10m away from your gear, down a bank or something. It should have surge protection already but definitely use a rubust surge strip to plug into.

Ok so as far as running audio and computer gear off a genny it's safe.... I'm Thinking surge protected sockets at least?

It's gotta be some kinda American euphemism I'm guessing lol. He can't ACTUALLY mean that gay people shouldn't run the gennies, that'd just be flat-out weird.

Make sure you place the generator away from the people. Generator = Fumes and noise.

Use long extension cords to keep it at a distance.

What speakers are you using?

buy extra gas / have backup fuses . having a alternate power source wouldn't be a bad idea ether. also make sure the volume of your system is louder than the generator when its running and have a spot set aside for the generator where its well ventilated and no one is going to trip over power cords.

That generator could power ten of those amps. I believe the question is will that amp be enough for an outdoor event? 600 watts max is like bookshelf system power.
