Best traktor controller 2014

I know there are other posts about this in the past. But i am just curious as to what people believe is now the best controller for traktor. I feel the s4mk2 has a huge amount of issues, and honestly see no worthy improvements over the s4 mk1. Maybe if it actuallly worked with new ipads i could see a benefit. I am trying to figure out what traktor controller to get, I had the numark 4trak, and the traktor s2 mk1. I want it to be somewhat portable, but also good quality. I am actually leaning towards the s4 mk1 maybe I just dont know.

What did you dislike specifically about your numark 4trak? I used to have an S4 but it got stolen and I replaced it with a 4trak but sadly I find myself not very happy with it… I can't even really figure out why, it's a decent enough controller but I'm beginning to consider selling it and moving on or just sticking with traktor scratch when i play out, maybe get an X1...

If you want Traktor reliability then it's either the S2 or S4 because they're Traktor-native.

Why would anything else be more reliable when it has to rely on MIDI for Traktor integration?

If the S2/4 MK2 are suffering from 'issues', then you can sure NI would be working on these. My opinion, is always go native with your controller / software combination.

If the question is what is the best controller for Traktor the answer is probably the S4. The new model will eventually prove itself; its a different chip set and I'm sure future versions of traktor will show a bigger gap between the Mk1 & Mk 2.

If you can afford it they newer unit will have greater longevity, mind you I'll say that again in 18 months when the Mk 3 comes out.
Sorry didnt mean to turn this into a ios 7 post, or bashing on the s4 either. I want to use the s4, I had the s2 and loved it but prefer 4 channel controllers and traktor. I also had the 4trak and altho i thought it was nice to me the sound quality was not very good. I am just reading issues with the s4 so i am afraid of the reliability thing not just in clubs but mobile djn parties or anything.
Other then the s4 or s2 any suggestions?

I've seen some clubs that have one, and X1's and etc.

Does this happened to anyone? Or anyone heard of it

The main selling point of the mk2 versus the mk1 is it works with ios or ipads, it does NOT work with ios 7. Which means it can not work with any new ipads, or even any updated ipads. Which is almost all of them now. You can look at a lot of posts where people talk about the mk2 constantly crashes now with newer macbooks too. Just a lot of issues and native instruments has yet to even reply or acknowledge this.

That goes without saying for all gear . There shouldn't be an issue with using another controller that's the same model as your own.

I've read through many S4 complaints and have never come across that particular issue.

You need to be on Traktor 2.6.4 or newer for the Mk2 to be recognised.

I've heard that it's not recommended to use random s4's on gigs (like ones the club may have) because traktor sometimes simply doesn't recognizes the new s4 and the controller becomes useless. So I ve been told that one should always use the same own S4 to play. Does it happen?

The iOS 7 issue isn't limited to NI from what I've read. Several other MIDI/audio apps recommend staying with iOS 6.
