The worst thing to happen
Posted on: 21.09.2013 by Hellen Mindrup
So last evening during my gig, which is about 4 hours long, my Xone 22's entire right hand side of the mixer died...

I couldn't get anything to play at all, meters were completely dead. I couldn't get sound in my headphones from the right channel either. Obviously we tried re wiring everything, because my buddy brought his DJM 850 right by and everything worked flawlessly on that. I read up somewhere that cranking the booth volume might do that, and I usually do while at the same time keeping my volumes on the backs of the monitor speakers low. I'm going to re try everything here in a bit, maybe even hit it with some compressed air.

Anyone of you with a 22 ever experience this? Hopefully someone can hit me with a few tips and tricks.

I tried when I got my Audio 2 with Traktor LE and doing that was just not my style man. This is my only gig where I bring my own gear so I use Traktor, but when I play out at a club I just bring a USB w/ Rekordbox. I'd never depend on Traktor, Serato, or any other software when it comes to a gig that matters. But that's just me.

Dude, I was pretty pissed when it happened, I threw on a mix and just moped around. When I tried to see if my CDJ would calibrate it said it was skipping.. So at that point I was just like "screw this."

Plus I didn't want to lie to you guys, a bit of humility is always good

Yeah, it was quite funny laughing about it the next day. I had this epicly large group of broads on the floor and they were loving me so they kept bringing me shots and shit. Normally I'm cool but it went slightly too far lol.

Haha, slammed.

e/ I guess this has turned into an "embarrassing moments while Dj'ing" thread lol. Not bad though. These are quite funny.

I remember covering my mates gig cos he was playing over in ireland, he warned me the house mixer was fucked, and i had to unplug it and plug my own in, and the place was wired really strange, the booth monitor was controlled from the bar (i ended up just unplugging it), but when we were trying to get the music started there was a 1/2 second delay between the sub and the speakers, couldnt work out for the life of me why, reset all the amps, turned all the speakers on and off, turns out my mate was having a shot mixing on the headphones and left a 1/2 bar delay effect on

Man, that sucks, but at least you can blame it on women.

Glad you figured it out, and yeah, I've found honesty to be the best solution as well. So, kudos on that.

Now that I believe of it, definitely take it apart and give it a good cleaning. Sometimes dust or moisture can short out a fader.

Does it smell burnt? If you don't have a warranty, take it apart and look for anything unusual like burnt traces, resistors or leaking capacitors.

I take it that you are playing on the line inputs. Open the mixer and change the phono to line on right side and see if you get sound that way.
