Run Reason 4 audio into S4 sampling??
Posted on: 28.10.2010 by Teressa Madorin
I don't know how this would work, so I'm asking -

I have a midi controller keyboard (axiom pro 61,) running through Reason 4 to get my key sounds... How do I route this 'internally' into Traktor for sampling with the S4 as I play?

I tried it out: only I don't have the S4 nor do I have the version of Traktor that has sampling capabilities. (I couldn't for the life of me figure out how to 'record enable' the demo verison of traktor pro that I downloaded.)

I used Reason to run through Soundflower into Ableton Live instead. The delay was VERY slight if any at all. GOOD NEWS! I also noticed that Soundflower gives some advanced options to tweak the buffer sizes. Also good news if delay is an issue.

Can SOMEONE please try this theory with their VCI-100 or S4 with Traktor?? That is: route Reason audio through SoundFlower into Traktor... see if there is an unreasonable amount of delay, or what.

Get sound flower here: http://cycling74.com/products/soundflower/

Please please please, can someone take 20mins to try it... PLEASE
(SoundFlower is VERY easy to use *pleasantly surprised.)

^^this..

it's not that long. install soundflower, set the out prefs in reason to any to channels and the INs in traktor to the same (e.g. deck C --> audio through).
you need to change the main/monitor outs in traktor as well and the soundflower out of course..

As for this idea, the S4 'midi in' is just for external controllers to trigger switches in Traktor. Traktor doesn't have VST plug-in capability, and even if you could route the midi out from Traktor to Reason, that doesn't get the audio signal of the key-sounds BACK into Traktor for sampling.

Thank you for your ideas, though.

Thanks but this is not an 'internal' solution - I'm wanting a solution that simply sends the audio out of Reason and into the S4 without another audio card, or external cabling.
