S4 Midi Clock to Ableton Live
S4 Midi Clock to Ableton Live Posted on: 13.12.2010 by Teressa Madorin So I've been at this for a couple hours now, and thought I'd come here to ask... I was hoping I'd be here to show yall how to do it, but I'M STRUGGLING.I followed these directions, from an older version of Traktor: http://www.djranking s.com/2008/05/1...-mac/#comments and then after searching some time I tried something like this too: http://www.masterbeaters.com/?page_id=599 Ohhh, after that last one I was sure I was on to something. But alas... I could never get the MIDI Monitor to show the clock signal. Oh sure, it would show me some midi signals, especially when I put the S4 in midi mode and screwed around with the faders and whatnot. But never did I get the constant string of signal indicating the MASTER CLOCK was registering. There are a couple of things different about the new Traktor software, it looks like they even tried to make it easier to perform this function. But I can't do it. PLEASE hook a brother up, =Z | |

I had to uninstall SoundFlower to use it though. =Z |

Tyra Labrecque 15.12.2010 | Finally got monitor output for traktor working in ableton. I used soundflower (16ch) in traktor audio preference. In output routing I set monitor output to soundflower 2 & 3 and master to soundflower 0 & 1. Over in ableton in audio preference I used soundflower (16ch) as audio input. In audio input config I selected channels 1, 1/2, 3, 3/4. For audio out I used traktor kontrol S4. For audio output config I selected all channels. That was it for the preferences. In ableton I set up two audio tracks. The first audio track had channels 1/2 and the second track had channels 3/4, this was under 'audio from'. Under monitor option I had 'in' selected. Both tracks had master set for 'audio to'. Under the master track I had channels 3/4 selected as 'cue out' and 1/2 as 'master out'. The second audio track, which has channels 3/4 as input, is the one I used for the monitor. On the monitor track I lower the volume all the way down and select the cue button. See video below on how to set up cue. With this setup I have ableton running in the background and have full control of the traktor S4, and monitor on S4 is fully functional. Now if I want to use any vst in ableton I can just drop in audio track 1. I'll probably play around a little more for a tighter config. If you find a better solution let me know. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=9Cbkbof9wXk |

Tyra Labrecque 14.12.2010 | I tried the advice on this video http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=4xzldehIsCE. Seems to work, though I'm having problems with the midi clock sync delay. Can't seem to beat sync it together. Also this method only syncs both programs, if you want to route traktor signal (sound) through ableton you want to use soundflower (if using mac), [ame="http://www.youtube.com/user/armyofme4340#p/u/5/q_sa71rjvak"]YouTube - armyofme4340's Channel[/ame]. What's great with sounflower is I can use ableton effects and vst's on traktor signal path. The problem I have with soundflower is I can't use monitor (headphones). Maybe someone can shed some light on 1. how to properly sync ableton midi clock with traktor and/or 2. how to use soundflower to send main to ableton and also monitor signal. |
