S4 Build Quality

1. Handle of the channel fader has an offset.
2. Cue mix knob is stuck when trying to turn it clock-wise.
So, any ideas? Where to get genuine part to replace the knob?

I've been lucky, every thing looks good on mine. But it has to said there's a certain amount of compromise to the build quality.

1: it's made in china
2: plastic pots is NOT what you want to see on pro gear
3: un solid face plate along outer edge of pitch fade area

Non of the above really bother me, I'm in love my S4. But keeping in mind those few points it's very hard defend against people who want to call it a plastic toy. Maybe it's case of you get what you pay for, I'm sure not the only one who believes the retail price is cheap when compared to what else is out there.

I wanted to hold off from the first run, obviously I couldn't wait and ended up buying a second hand S4 through the buy and sell section on TechTools.

I get what ya saying, I love my Technics too, but I believe you made a unfair comparison

Technics have had over 30 years perfecting production
A 1210 has minimal moving parts to get wrong
Plus the guts of a 1210 are basic at best

I will try and not look at mine.....aaarg who am I kidding! as long as there are no leaks whatever but quality should be top notch.... I have a less than half price reloop over a year and gave it some bashing and never a problem, nor defects/flaws found... well one button but that was my fault :P

Mine has too but I don't really care about that. That's just cosmetic. I'm a lil buzzed spinning right now at a gig (don't why I'm on DJTT) but anyhow, there is no way that little flaw is going to have any effect on your set. You can't even see that sh!t while mixing and focusing on everything else. I feel you though. Just the fact that someone pointed it out is kinda bugging me. I'm trying to train my brain not to look at it when I look at my S4. As bad as it sounds I'm glad you guys have the same issue so I don't feel alone. LOL! If it was just mine I would be even more pissed off.

So I have the same offset on my unit but I wonder if it's worth it returning it to NI when I have no real issues with it to begin with, I only found out about it it after reading this post. That and the fact I wonder if NI can 'fix' it as so many people have this issue? It's probably just an issue many, many others have aswell?

Frick... I just looked and mine is like that too! WTF? I also had the problem with the headphone knobs (both of them) but I found after I kind of reefed on them to the right, they straightened out. I realize that only people experiencing problems will be the ones writing on community s like this, but there seem to be a LOT of the same problems if you read through the DJTT community and the NI community s. Way to go, Native Instruments.

Hi alexndr,

My S4 has the exact offset problem with the exact same fader channel.
Luckily it doesn't seem to affect my unit in anyway.

Parts are not user replaceable at all.
NI has a Service Contingency in place for such issues.

Contact NI support mate.

The faders aren't user replaceable so you'll have to contact NI.

considering this thing just dropped, there probably isnt many available parts for it yet. when in doubt check the NI website. the channel fader looks pretty bad and im sure its an annoyance. contact NI and see about getting the unit replaced under warranty if your local store it was purchased from cant do anything about it. thats if you got it from a local store of course.... sorry if this isnt helpful, just mere suggestions. best of luck
