Would just like to see numbers of people either:
(i) experiencing problems
(ii) running smoothly
and state version (win7,vista, xp) and maybe brand of laptop

Iv got till tomorrow to decide whether to purchase one for my vista laptop. Got the option to upgrade to win7.

im using a different sound card now and the thing runs perfect.

just a few tweeks and its runs great...

if you dont have a different sound card, just pick up something cheap like the audio 2 and it will be fine.

loving the S4 now. pitty it dont work with its own sound card because that for me was aone of the reasons i bought it.

let me know how you get on, if ya try a different sound card

hope it helps ya man

now thats why i had a hard time setting the audio device to traktor s4 and hearing no sound out of it

will those creative 5.1 and 7.1 sound cards do it for the s4 or do you recommend an NI sound cards and if NI cards
which to invest into beside audio2?
*feels like audio 2 is a bit amateur*

i was believeing of audio 8 since a month or two but lately there have been rumors specially after the NI 50% sale (which i missed) about newer versions of their sound cards bundled with s4 like software with DVS system, so i would rather wait a bit more than buying audio2 but in the meantime i want a cheap card just to practice on my s4

guess i will go hunting cheap sound cards on the week-end i just hope sellers don't get pissed off me when i return the bad ones :P

i wouldnt know about them creative surround sound cards,

ive used to M-Audio sound card, and a Numark DJ IO (even cheaper than the Audio DJ2) and both work fine.
the only thing with the numark is there is no hardware volume control, so ya gotta do it in the software as the S4 hardware cue volume dont work. but the cue cross fader mix works fine. and even though its cheap, it works great and is stable. unlike the S4's in built cards

maybe if you need it, get the audio dj4 or 8, depends on what you need for your set up really

these threads were a major motivating factor for me buying a vci-300. i really wanted an s4, but reading they are spending a LOT of time on the bridge for itch to make it cpu friendly so both itch and ableton can run i figured.... i got an ipad, theres my ableton controller. may as well go that route and get basically the same thing with all kinds of stability.

no probs yet

Dell 2ghz 2gb ram running xp

Vista makes anything run badly so i would recommend moving to XP or Win7 (Win 7 is a heap more resource hungry than xp though)

I was able to run TSP without problems on an older desktop PC running an Athlon 64 chip with 1 gb of ram (Win7). I used this guide for turning off services: http://www.blackviper.com/WinXP/servicecfg.htm

a vista user, done everything and disabled everything i can believe off.

everything runs great with out a single clip or audio drop out issue UNTIL i get what seems to be random spikes
and i mean MAJOR spikes, its so annoying,
its like everything distorts and chokes up

sometimes it can go for hours with out a glitch but almost all the time its a complete evening mare.

if someone can please tell me how to fix this that would be great.
ive done everything thats been reccomended on all community s that ive seen,
but i cant fix this spike issue

ive almost fully given up on it to be honest, mainly due to the fact that the costumer services end of it is a complete joke.

the S4 is great when working and i love it BUT so fustrating when it aint.

if i were you, i would wait until there is new drivers for windows.
mines basicly sitting there collecting dust until they release new driver updates or i can afford a mac.
