Problem/Issue Advice needed!!!
Problem/Issue Advice needed!!! Posted on: 19.01.2011 by Temeka Ordonez Hi guys,I just wanted to flag a problem up on here before getting in contact with Native Instruments. My S4 has started behaving a bit erratically recently. When using deck d, any pressure exerted on the eq or filter knobs on channel d (and sometimes channel c) will flat out kill a track or a sample playing. Doesn't happen everytime - 2/3 times out of 5 but its becoming really annoying. I'd thought the build quality of this thing was pretty good up till now, apart from the wonky knobs and gaps on the panels!! Has anyone else had a similar problem at all? I recently changed hard drives on my Macbook - cloned it and there have been no problems apart from Traktor software initially not being able to find my library but that was soon fixed. Any help, advice, would be greatly received! Cheers!!! T | |

Charline Dye 19.01.2011 | Sorry to hear it, but at least you know it's a hardware problem and NI should take care of it. |
Hailey Westen 19.01.2011 | have you tried recalibraiting ? |
Temeka Ordonez 19.01.2011 | Hi Popoff44, Thanks for the prompt reply and for your thoughts. I believe you've pretty much nailed it on the hand and confirmed my worse fears. I have tried re-calibrating and its not really made any difference. Annoying!!! Thanks for your help on this - will give NI a shout! T |
Marylyn Vine 19.01.2011 | Hi, Sounds like a mechanical issue to me... Are you able to reproduce the problem easily by intentionally pressing on those EQ/Filter knobs while a track is playing? If yes (i.e. the symptoms are pretty consistent) then most likely something is wrong with the hardware itself. In that case, the best thing to do is to work with NI's support on getting a repair/replacement. If not, it may be a software issue, but I doubt that since, as you said, it happens when pressure is applied to the controller. Also, there is a similar issue where track stops playing if you press the jog-wheel and it's not calibrated. Since the knobs and fader you mentioned are on the right side of the controller, you may try re-calibrating the right jog-wheel. Again, I doubt it will help, but it's worth a try. |
