Important information i need to know before my purchase Posted on: 17.04.2011 by Soo Lui I'm looking at getting a NI S4 controller, but i need to know if i'll be able to install the software on 2 machines (iMac and Macbook Air), the first been my home rig which i prefer at home because of the bigger display, and the latter been my live rig?Cheers guys! Soo Lui 18.04.2011 | hmmm, i see what your saying but i'm looking at spending |
Tatum Ansaldo 18.04.2011 | http://www.apple.com/uk/why-mac/compare/notebooks.html for one thing, the processors in the MBP are faster and better. They also have backlit keyboards which are brilliant. Price wise I'm working in pounds, and I'm using the closest comparable specs. MBA 2.13 GHz C2duo, 4GB RAM, 256GB SSD = |

Soo Lui 18.04.2011 | cool, cheers bro. i believe this thread has gone a little off topic now but i've got a lot from it, so thanks again, i'll let you know how my journey down s4 and MBP/MBA lane goes! |
Tatum Ansaldo 18.04.2011 | I actually got it sent to me here in Spain, and it took about 3 weeks I believe. |
Soo Lui 18.04.2011 | cool, i'm going to have a deeper look into it, but from the facts you've given me i see myself edging towards the MBP now... since you seem to be from GB and have a midifighter how long did it take for yours to arrive? |
Tatum Ansaldo 18.04.2011 | definitely. more upgradeable, more durable, better processor, better for DJing. |

Soo Lui 18.04.2011 | Im on the fence about it now, MBP has thunderbolt and is more powerful but the MBair is smaller and is better value in my eyes with the SSD. If anyone has any deal breaks/makers let me know? |
Tatum Ansaldo 19.04.2011 | Don't say i didn't warn you for sure they're cool, but I'd take a MBP over an air any day. I like flexibility. |
Soo Lui 18.04.2011 | exactly what i've just been believeing! i believe its the best move tbh bro, they're a great machine! |

Soo Lui 18.04.2011 | it ranges, i have a external hd at home thats 1tb that has about 90gb of music on it, but i'll be using a external usb with my macbook... ooh i see a problem here now aha, i might not be getting a midi fighter now, i'd be using that with about 20gb of music on it for any particular evening , i make my music choices to suit what i'll be doing. |
Tatum Ansaldo 18.04.2011 | how much music do you have and where do you plan on storing it? |
Soo Lui 18.04.2011 | yeah i know but it almost doubles the cost of the mbp, they have 2 USB ports not just 1 anymore and i'm only planning on running a s4, ipad 2 with osculator and a KP3 in total for now, but i would like a midi fighter eventually so thats perfect for me i believe. unless traktor runs badly on a mbair thats the only thing that'll stop me getting it, so if anyone has any prior experience it'd be nice to hear? |
Tatum Ansaldo 18.04.2011 | This weekend I'm gna be putting a 240GB SSD in my MBP, and SSDs are an option in new MBPs. Just so ya know. What with that and only having 1 USB port, I wouldn't use a MBair for DJing. But that's just me. |
Soo Lui 18.04.2011 | well i'm still in 'going to buy the macbook air' mode at the moment, purely based on the SSD and the fact it can boot in less than 15 seconds. is that reason enough to stop me getting a mbp? |
Tatum Ansaldo 18.04.2011 | If you want a mac for Traktor Pro, get a Macbook Pro. The Air is cool, but MBPs are more durable and more flexible. |
Fady Soliman 17.04.2011 |
install the software on 2 machines (iMac and Macbook Air)
Don't own a mac but once my ASUS lappy dies I'm switching over to Mac. |
Soo Lui 17.04.2011 | excellent! cheers bro, thats all i needed to know, consider it purchased! |
Tatum Ansaldo 17.04.2011 | yes you can. you get 2 installs per licence. |
